Your last choice track before the meteors hit?

(note: devoid of any connotations it has picked up over the years)

Ha, of course! ...and yes there will be dancing!

Some great tunes in this thread, would make an interesting mix-tape.

Having a hard time deciding between these two:

Tool - Lateralus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS7CZIJVxFY

John Sebastian - Welcome Back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YigR9J22z0w

Stevie Nicks - Planets of the Universe

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZqeGqdU3EE

The bright light is lying down
The earth and the sea and the sky
Is at rest with the ocean
And the days go by

They go into the seas that have no shores
Haunted by that same closed door
Looking up at skies on fire
Leaving nothing left of us
To discover

Chorus:
And the planets of the universe
Go their way
Not astounded by the sun or the moon
Or by the day
You and I will simply disappear
Out of sight
But I'm afraid soon there'll be
No light

No doubt, no pain
Come ever again, well
Let there be light in this lifetime
In the cool, silent moments of the nighttime

(Chorus)

We will never change again
The way that we are changing
Well, you'll forget the chill of love
But not the strain

Now I know
Well, I was wrong
To live for a dream
If I had my life to live over
I would never dream, no
I still wish you gone
And I will live alone
Yes, I will live alone

(Chorus)

You will never love again
The way you love me
You will never rule again
The way you ruled me
You will never change again
The way you're changing

Assuming it's a "forget the cave idea" size meteor, I'd just have to be cliche... :P

It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) - R.E.M.

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
and I decline.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mount St. Edelite.
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic,
slam, but neck, right? Right.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

HAHAHAHA Guardian, I actually thought of that one last night after turning out the lights for the night (and thinking upon this thread.)
Good choice.

Another is "We Didn't Start The Fire."

And there is always 1999 by Prince. I played that for fun on New Years Eve for The Year 2000. Y2K was all the rage.

Hmm well if nothing else was going on, like I was stuck with my working laptop and youtube and everyone else was safe etc. I would play the worst new pop song ever. Just for kicks. Friday by Rebbecca Black.

Mmmm curious that after anart you change your attitude for this thread.

----------------------

I would be hearing The Spirit Carries On from Dream Theater, just read it:

Nicholas:
Where did we come from,
Why all we here?
Where do we go when we die?
What lies beyond
And what lay before?
Is anything certain in life?

They say, "Life is too short,"
"The here and the now"
And "You're only given one shot"
But could there be more,
Have I lived before,
Or could this be all that we've got?

If I die tomorrow
I'd be all right
Because I believe
That after we're gone
The spirit carries on

I used to be frightened of dying
I used to think death was the end
But that was before
I'm not scared anymore
I know that my soul will transcend

I may never find all the answers
I may never understand why
I may never prove
What I know to be true
But I know that I still have to try

If I die tomorrow
I'd be all right
Because I believe
That after we're gone
The spirit carries on

Victoria:
"Move on, be brave
Don't weep at my grave
Because I am no longer here
But please never let
Your memory of me disappear"

Nicholas:
Safe in the light that surrounds me
Free of the fear and the pain
My questioning mind
Has helped me to find
The meaning in my life again
Victoria's real
I finally feel
At peace with the girl in my dreams
And now that I'm here
It's perfectly clear
I found out what all of this means

If I die tomorrow
I'd be all right
Because I believe
That after we're gone
The spirit carries on

Mine would be by G. Sviridov - "Troika" - Metel' (Snowstorm)

SO MANY good choices guys! Really great ones. I chucked at a few while others made me stop and think.

I had to decide between about a dozen songs (most of them ironic) but I think that in the end, I'm going with "The End" by The Doors.

"This is the end....my only friend, the end..."

First off, many would see this event as a somber event. For myself, IF I would be brave enough, for I sure can talk big right now, eh? IF I would be brave enough to sit in a lawn chain and stare death in the eye until the last moment, my personal choice of music to go out with a Yee Haw and a bang IS:

Foggy Mountain Breakdown--Flatt and Scruggs & Foggy Mt Boys

After all, I "think" one's knowledge and attitude at death carries one through the transition to whatever or where ever, what may Be...

Actually if any music at all it would probably be a nice classical piece. Nothing sad , just beautiful and fitting.

Some amusing choices here, many quite hectic!

Something beautiful and haunting for me, and a little more relaxed to see me through:

Damien Rice: Eskimo

Hi all, this one has always given me the shivers and now gives me additional ones because it's so appropriate:

_http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgqjnzkYPnA

Lyrics:

Only one day is left, only one day
We are leaving the others
We're going away
Today we all steer, animals we are
Possession is lost

Our souls are from the wild
And wings to reach the sky
Let the sun fall into the ocean,
Let the earth erupt in flame
It is enough to have the strength
and knowledge to raise our dream machines
into the sky

Let them sleep who do not know
The final day is here
The very last
and we leave at dawn
Millions of machines on nitroglycerin
Thunder in us
There is no force no money and no power
To stop us now and change our fate

Now every problem is destroyed
We raise our hands and bodies to the peak
Into the Universe - towards the stars we go
Sending machines up to the sky

[Chorus]
Machines we are sending to the skies
Above us all
And leave behind those who don't know of the final day
We leave in sleep those who don't know
We leave at dawn
We are driven by the B-machine
Wild B-machine - that never stops

Like most Laibach tracks, powerful, dark, weird but wonderful in a very strange way.

Cheers,

If I had to choose a song I probably would pick something from the Bee Gees. :D
Maybe Tragedy: _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPcsMMEMbfw

Seriously though, if the comets were falling I'd want to go outside, get a good view and watch and listen to the sounds of the comets coming in while in pipe breathing mode. Fully awake and fully aware.
