Don't fear the reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhRjyLLUdhw

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

Matchbox 20 "How Far We've Come"

Hello
Hello
Hello

Waking up at the start of the end of the world,
But it's feeling just like every other morning before,
Now I wonder what my life is going to mean if it's gone,
The cars are moving like a half a mile an hour
And I started staring at the passengers who're waving goodbye
Can you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time?

I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well I guess we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Well I believe it all is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come

I think it turned ten o'clock but I don't really know
And I can't remember caring for an hour or so
Started crying and I couldn't stop myself
I started running but there's no where to run to
I sat down on the street took a look at myself
Said where you going man you know the world is headed for hell
Say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to

I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well I guess we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come

Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come

It's gone, gone, baby, it's all gone
There is no one on the corner and there's no one at home
It was cool cool, it was just all cool
Now it's over for me and it's over for you
Well it's gone, gone, baby, it's all gone
There is no one on the corner and there's no one at home
Well it was cool cool, it was just all cool
Now it's over for me and it's over for you

I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well I guess we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come

"Bring on the Comets" ~ VHS or Beta

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G71-GRlnx9U

Suddenly, we were left
Without the worry of tomorrow
And comets fell from the sky
I took your breath
You took my sorrow

You walked sad in a dream
But count your days boy, they are fading
You set a fire in my heart
One chance in a lifetime was worth the waiting

Let us go easy
As we watch them hit the ground
When the light is gone the memory of nothings left to sound
Memories sweet whispers are all that we'll have left
So fall into these arms tonight and share this one last breath

Bring on the comets x3
Bring on x4

Armageddon, by Sagisu Shiro interpreted by Mali, from Evangelion-Vox Album _ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B09YtqwlFY
I happened to hear for the first time this song years back and ever since I love to hear it, understanding the meaning of life. I was thinking in other pieces of music although, for this thread, I think this one fits quite perfectly.

(Verse1)
How many times must we start again
The creation of the world from beginning to end
What will it take before we learn
We gotta wake up now 'n' show some concern
What will the future hold
How many untold stories will be told
Just what will the future bring
How many species of birds will have a song to sing
Man 'n' man can't even get on
'N' man n' woman been at war for far too long
Superior race all this black 'n' white vision
Catholic - Muslim there's to many religions
Too much hatred too much greed
Ignorent people pollute the air that we breath
We're gotta wake up now before it's much too late
Hungry people need food on their plate
People being killed for just a few pence
Can you justify that 'cause it makes no sense to me
You're growing up much to fast
The distruction of mankind - how long will it last

(Verse2)
Perfect - that's what I'm striving to be
The next best thing will do for me
I do my best you disagree
Holier - than - thou holier - than - me
Committing crimes with no remorse
As good as gold now an evil force
One word description is a dis
You like a boy down for his bag of cheese 'n' onion crisp
And you don't even stop to think
Whatever happened to the dinosaurs could make us all extinct
I'm being judged by the clothes that I wear
We gotta educate those with a grudge to bare
But I'm content to a certain extent
You're condemned for life it's too late to repent
Inna - most beauty such a terrible waste
Caught between a rock 'n' a hard place.

(Verse3)

Be judged by according to what you've done
Live his life the next is a better one
Eat the fruit from the tree of life
'Cause if you live by the sword...you'll die by the knife
How great and wonderful are your days
How right and true are your ways
No more death, grief, crying or pain
'Cause only the good things will remain...
Heed my words 'cause what I'm saying is true
Treat them exactly as they treated you
Wipe away the tears from your eyes
Be proud, lift your head up - reach for the skies.

(Verse4)

Condemned for what you did to them
Now see how quick they fall to worship him
There's a place in my heart that makes me understand
Prepared 'n' ready like a bride dressed to meet her husband
Treat life like a learning process
I said turn right so you took a sharp left
Wake up and we'll all sleep peacefully
The sun shines but it still seems bleak to me
You tell a lie and convince me it's the truth
I'll well mannered yet but you still call me uncouth
I believe that there's got to be much more
I hope I'm ready when death comes knockin' on my door
Maybe tonight maybe as I sleep
It can drive you mad if you think too deep
But don't have a breakdown 'cause I called you a down
You threw a punch 'n' missed I killed you with a kiss
What on earth will you do then
The hour of your death amen
'N' all the prejudice that I've sustained
I know it sounds funny but I just can't stand the pain.

Six foot below
Reap what you sow
Grim without grief
Sad without sorrow

Some great tunes in this thread!

I think I'd have a hard time choosing between the ones mentioned and the following:
O Fortuna - Carmina Burana
Billie Holiday - All of me (All of me, Why not take all of me..) :D
AC/DC:
Let there be Rock
Thunderstruck

Oh, Johnny, Oh, Johnny by The Andrews Sisters
"Oh, Johnny! Oh, Johnny!
How you can love
Oh, Johnny! Oh, Johnny!
Heavens above
You make my sad heart jump with joy
And when you're near I just can't sit still a minute
I'm so, Oh, Johnny! Oh, Johnny!
Please tell me dear
What makes me love you so?
You're not handsome, it's true
But when I look at you
I just, Oh, Johnny!"
Wonder if there's a comet named Johnny :D

Rock Steady - Aretha Franklin
Raindrops keep falling on my head - B.J. Thomas
Let it be by the Beatles
Emperor Waltz - Johann Strauss
Won't get fooled again - The Who

Joy to the world

Waltz of the flowers - Tchaikovsky

Wind of Change - Scorpions

William Tell Overture - Rossini
Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve
Claire de Lune - Debussy (Philadelphia Orchestra)
Triumphant March - Verdi
Light Cavalry - Suppe (maybe from 2:22)
Marche Militaire - Schubert (maybe from 0:51)
The World we knew (over and over) - Frank Sinatra
Don't rain on my parade - Bobby Darin

Lovely day - Bill Withers
When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind

Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day

But I think eventually, I would choose Claire De Lune...

Imagine Dragons - On Top of the World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8PrTzLaLHc

If you love somebody
Better tell them why they're here 'cause
They just may run away from you

You'll never know what went well
Then again it just depends on
How long of time is left for you

I've had the highest mountains
I've had the deepest rivers
You can have it all but not til you move it

Now take it in but don't look down

'Cause I'm on top of the world, 'ey
I'm on top of the world, 'ey
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I've been waiting to smile, 'ey
Been holding it in for a while, 'ey
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I'm on top of the world

I've tried to cut these corners
Try to take the easy way out
I kept on falling short of something

I coulda gave up then but
Then again I couldn't have 'cause
I've traveled all this way for something

Now take it in but don't look down

'Cause I'm on top of the world, 'ey
I'm on top of the world, 'ey
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I've been waiting to smile, 'ey
Been holding it in for a while, 'ey
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I'm on top of the world

'Cause I'm on top of the world, 'ey
I'm on top of the world, 'ey
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I've been waiting to smile, 'ey
Been holding it in for a while, 'ey
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child

And I know it's hard when you're falling down
And it's a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now, get up, get up now

And I know it's hard when you're falling down
And it's a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now, get up, get up now

'Cause I'm on top of the world, 'ey
I'm on top of the world, 'ey
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I've been waiting to smile, 'ey
Been holding it in for a while, 'ey
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I'm on top of the world

Thank you all for your posts. So many examples of beautiful and meaningful music.

Depending on time I would have to listen music :), I would choose Kate Bush "Hello Earth" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWsfNYATsEE and then, Mozart - Piano Concerto No. 22 in E flat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hgaxI3JRgg

I think I might go with Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds".

"Don't worry - 'bout a thing
'Cause every little thing - is going to be alright"

What will be will be, and worrying about it isn't going to help, or change, anything. And in the grand scheme of things, it should lead to a better world, I hope.

for now it would be this:

or maybe, for something different, this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYyqpxnmIcE

the first one is a song by a little known 80s band called Felt.

the second one is an opening tune from Satoshi Kon's animated movie "Paprika" (which should be watched by everyone who thinks "Inception" was good).

For me one of the best polish song from 80s

Looking for life without emotions
In spite of the times and the people against the
Wherever you are during the day or night
With the eyes of the viewer watching the game
Someone else changed the world for you
Risked his head, raises a cry
And you from afar, because it's better
And if you do not lose anything

Experience it yourself, Experience it yourself
Do not replace the heart in hard rock
While still heart you

You saw again yesterday in the journal
Tired of people angry mob
And one detail caught your eye
A huge sea of human heads
And the announcer drawled harsh words
Since the sudden anger rise
And he began to sprout up anger in you
As much as you thought: silence rather

Experience it yourself, Experience it yourself
Do not replace the heart in hard rock
While still heart you
