New show: NewsReal with Joe & Niall

You can put a little laughing effigy on my post as well Joe, but like Michael I will put this one up.

Just for future ref. when I click the "laugh" emoji, it's not to derisively laugh at a post, but for actually laughing along with something said in the post. If I think a post is silly, I'll say it rather than lazily using an emoji.

I just had a look at an article about missing UK mum Nicola Bulley which was discussed during the show of today as it could be a 411 missing case:
The body of Nicola Bulley has been found one mile downstream from the place where she is thought to have disappeared. Interestingly, they found her body in some reeds in the river Wyre after a tip-off from a psychic. With all the amateur sleuths present at the scene (or so the media said) and police searches plus other professionals that were involved in the search how could her body have been missed? I am curious as to whether we will hear more details about her tragic end. The way the media are blaming the public for having "conspiracy theories" and for interfering and distracting the police from the search is perhaps a sign that there is something they are not telling us.

That was my immediate question too. I mean, over the last 3 weeks, did police really not search half a mile downstream of that relatively small river? Well, apparently they did:

The discovery, in a section of water that had been searched by specialist police teams, private divers and members of the public, has led to questions over how her body went unnoticed for so long.

Whatever the strangeness of the forensics of the case, its clear that this event is now being used for further calls for online censorship. Hugo Talks makes a good overall point in the below in which he points out that the hysteria around this case has been specifically generated by excessive and sustained MSM coverage of a single case that is after all one of but many missing person cases each year, the vast majority of which go totally ignored. This blanket coverage is as much responsible as anything for the excesses on social media - but as always, don't let a good 'crisis' go to waste.

Yeah, that's another thing that occurred to me about this case: why all the media attention when, as you say, many people go missing each year in similar circumstances. I mean, just look at the number of cases unearthed by Paulides that no one ever heard of before, some of the in recent years. So there is something strange about this case of Nicola Bulley, and like you said, the ONLY reason there was so much public attention around it is because the media, for some reason, decided to highlight it. Very strange.

She's a white, photogenic woman. The media always goes into overdrive when someone like that goes missing, and typically the public is vastly more interested in such cases.

When I first heard about the case and saw a photograph of the missing woman, I was reminded of this stand-up bit by Patrice O’Neal.

(Don’t watch if you are easily offended. Contains foul language)

Another great show, thank you gentlemen (oh hell, can I even say that...? Sorry gentle-persons of a non-aligned nature...) though I think you finally broke me with this:

I mean... what the ... how... when... no... but.... come on... seriously,... no (sound of cognitive function finally breaking into smithereens...)???!!

At what level is this story even remotely possible?

Even the fish must have gone cross eyed and limp!

Help!
