Thanks for link reference, which was quite the in-depth look.

It was interesting for me to read that Anina had practiced in the field of Entomology in Alberta (working on mtn. pine beetle). As for de Ruiter, as the article said, he was from Stettler, AB and here is the wiki account https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_de_Ruiter of de Ruiter.
