Increase in animals attacks

Two dogs attacked my husband as he was out jogging yesterday. These are boxer type dogs. He received multiple bites and only got away when the owner called the dogs off. The owner then just walked into his house, leaving my husband bleeding on the side of the road. He walked to the next house to call me. We spent the rest of the day at the emergency room.

We have told the owners previously that the dogs come out into the road when we walk by. Supposedly they have shock collars on to prevent them coming out but it doesn't always work obviously. There is also a gate that the owner could keep shut, but does not.

The dogs acted aggressively for some reason, who knows why? But the human is of more concern. How could he just walk back into his house and leave my husband to fend for himself?
The reason about increasing animal attacks, maybe explain by this link?

(Natural News) According to the United States Geological Study (USGS), a new bird flu strain is spreading from wild birds to wild mammals, causing “zombie-like” animal behaviors. The infected mammals possess various neurological issues and have no fear of humans, the government study warns.

The first outbreaks were observed across Europe as early as October 2021. The outbreaks are coming from a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1, which allegedly belongs to the Eurasian lineage, clade 2.3.4.4b. The strains were detected during wild bird surveillance in November 2021 and have spread rapidly across Newfoundland and Labrador Canada and the United States through wild bird reservoirs and through the domestic poultry supply, including both backyard flocks and birds in commercial poultry facilities.

New bird flu strain passes from wild birds to mammals

The new strains have even passed over to various mammalian species — most predominantly the red fox. The sickness has also been detected in the Eurasian River otter, the Eurasian lynx, ferrets, European polecats, and stone martens captured throughout Europe. In May 2022, US and Canadian epidemiologists isolated the highly pathogenic avian influenza HfN1 in wild mammals. Were gain-of-function virology experiments involved in the sudden mammalian transmissibility of the bird flu?

In the latest USGS study, epidemiologists detected HPAIv in 67 wild mammals across ten states. From April 1 to July 21, 2022, the researchers isolated infected animals from New York to Alaska, and many places in between, including North Dakota, Iowa, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Idaho, Michigan, and Minnesota. According to the study, the infected animals included 50 red foxes, six striped skunks, four raccoons, two bobcats, two Virginia opossums, one coyote, one fisher, and one grey fox. The mammalian species most likely to be infected is the red fox.

According to study co-author, Dr. Hon Ip, Diagnostic Virologist at the USGS National Wildlife Health Center: “The most likely cause of infection was from predation or scavenging of wild birds infected with HPAIv as wild birds are a component of the natural diet for many of these mammalian species.” According to genetic sequencing conducted on 48 of the wild mammals, the infections are confirmed to be crossing over from wild birds. The epidemiologists found no evidence of lateral transmission of HPAIv within wild populations of terrestrial mammalian species; however, there is experimental evidence that horizontal transmission of H5N1 HPAIv occurs in domestic cats and ferrets. Moreover, the authors of the study could not rule out the possibility of parent to offspring transmission of the virus.

Is an upcoming plandemic of highly transmissible bird flu on the horizon? Is man-made engineering involved in the spillover effect of this zombie-like bird flu? Is this the source of a future bird flu pandemic that former CDC Director Robert Redfield was warning about? Dr. Robert Redfield, recently appeared on an episode of Hill.TV’s Rising to warn that a “great pandemic is coming.” He said a new pandemic will be the consequence of international bioterrorism and gain-of-function research that hasn’t been stopped yet, despite it being implicated in the development of covid-19.

“I think it’s going to come [a new pandemic], not from spillover, it’s going to come from gain-of-function research or intentional bioterrorism. It’s going to be a bird flu virus that is manipulated to be able to transmit human-to-human, very similar to what we saw with COVID,” Redfield said.

The new spillover infections attack the mammals’ brains

Once these animals are exposed to infected wild birds, they exhibit “zombie-like” behaviors and neurological disorders. According to immunohistochemical analysis, the HPAIv virus invades the neuron cell bodies and replicates in the brains of infected animals. Additionally, the animals suffer from seizures, ataxia, blindness, vocalization, nystagmus, grimace, and tremors. Some had severe lethargy, fever, diarrhea, recumbence, vomiting, paralysis, and unconsciousness. According to the study, the sick animals possessed “inappropriate and lack of fear of humans.

6-year-old boy attacked by stray dogs in Nagpur; horrifying VIDEO surfaces
A six-year-old boy was attacked by stray dogs in Maharashtra's Nagpur. The horrific incident that took place on April 11 was caught on a CCTV camera.

In the clip, six dogs can be seen attacking and then dragging the boy. He was saved after his mother came to his rescue. The child suffered serious injuries.

In the recent past, several incidents have come to light from different states where stray dogs have attacked and even killed people. On Monday, a dog was seen dragging a newborn inside Karnataka’s Shivamogga district hospital. The infant was found dead later.

Last month, two siblings were killed by stray dogs in separate incidents in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, sending shock waves across the city. In February, a five-year-old boy was mauled to death by street dogs in Hyderabad. The spine-chilling incident was caught on camera. Following the incident, dog catchers of GHMC caught 33 dogs from the vicinity.

In October last year, a one-year-old child died after being bitten by a stray dog in a residential society in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida.

Here is a disturbing video of stray dogs attacking and killing a unsuspecting old person in India.

"32 villagers injured after a wolf attack in Madhya Pradesh, India. Animal attacks on humans have increased in recent years. Could a wind of rebellion be blowing through the animal kingdom?"

I don't know, but here is my guess. There are LOT of stray dogs in India and they live on food scraps dropped on street corner garbage bins. Dogs chasing racing cyclists or even giving scratch or bite for what ever reason (new comer or it is a new mother etc.) is also very common. But I never heard dogs conspiring to kill babies/children/elderly until last few years.

After ridiculously successful Mod's "Swatch Bharat" (Clean India) suddenly roads became clean, people become responsible for the clean streets. I couldn't believe my self few years back when I visited India. When I asked how they managed to be clean, I was told about a mechanism. If one sees a unclean street they can take picture and upload it to website or app. Once it is documented, Follow up can go as far as Delhi. So local authorities are alert.

This top down accountability became so much, Opposition chief minister of south Indian State caught ranting against Modi on video which became viral. The context is one small village in his state hit by some misfortune (fire or some thing like that) and within days the villagers got compensations from Prime Minister's fund. This CM's rant is "Who is this Modi? Don't he have any work? There are local village leaders, district collectors, local MLA's , MP's, state ministers and State Chief Ministers exist to take care of it and Modi is bypassing it" etc. It became viral because every body knows that more than 90% of money goes to chain of command, before some crumbles reaches (if it every reaches) and Modi by having bank accounts every body created a mechanism to directly go to one's accounts in very short time. There are ton of examples of how he intervened even in simplest cases that gone viral. It doesn't mean all is hunky dory, happy ever after or like that. If tomorrow some unclean road surfaces, there will be lot of Anti-Modi gang poking at it. People are selfish, fickle and change is difficult process. The point is there is tremendous improvement in sanitation.

In that context, if dogs are under stress for their food or habitat and might have become vulnerable to the attachments. We don't know for sure, but it is one guess.

I don't know if this behavior is normal for a sheep when it is threatened. The sheep behaves as if it hates the person.
The sheep flock functions in a hierarchical manner. The dominant ram fulfills its function by charging to defend the flock. This natural behavior is well known to farmers and is often observed. This is why one should always observe the behavior of the ram when in the vicinity of a flock and never leave children alone in a pen with sheep. The lady in the video relaxed and was charged each time she turned her back to the ram. What I am writing only explains what the ram does and does not take away from the violence of the shock. I hope that she will not have any after-effects from the last charge.

That sheep is a ram :-)

A whole different ball game there. Ram understands only 3 things. Food, mate or a challenger. The dude is not food, nor a mate, so only last thing remains. Challenge until clear hierarchy is established. The dude is lucky that it was just 2 nibs into the body, nothing broken, no head damage.

Normally you keep sheep and ram/s separate, in order to prevent this from happening and only get them together for the mating time. Then separate before the lambs are born.

Anyone who has sheep has been rammed probably more than once. First time it happened to me, I thought it was just coincidence. Despite reading on the subject I couldn`t believe it actually happened. Second time I was ready and responded in the kind.

A 70-year-old hiker in Utah fought off a mountain lion that ambushed him in a canyon last week, telling local reporters he used only a rock and his hand.

The mountain lion attacked the hiker around 1 p.m. Thursday in Diamond Fork up Spanish Fork Canyon, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said. The 70-year-old escaped serious injury, suffering lacerations on his arms and head.

The hiker, identified as Evan Ray Nilsen, told KUTV that he was feeling "alright" following the attack but described the encounter as "a shock and a half."

"A mountain lion hit me right on the side, knocked me down the hill," Nilsen said. "I kind of hunched up or folded up, and it come down around behind me. And I hit it with a rock – just with my hand with a rock – and it took off."

Nilsen said he was able to drive himself down the canyon and got treated at Spanish Fork Hospital.

Scott Root, conservation manager with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, told news outlets that aggressive encounters between humans and mountains are "very rare."

Several factors may have contributed to this attack — a younger lion may not be as aware of humans, it could be it was simply startled or defending a kill," Root told McClatchy News, adding there are different reasons that could cause an animal to behave aggressive.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is looking for the cougar involved in the encounter and will euthanize the animal.

Following the attack, the agency posted information on what hikers should do if they encounter a cougar.

"Fight back if you are attacked!" the agency’s guidance reads, noting that you should protect your head and neck. "If you are aggressive enough the cougar will probably flee."

Officials said that individuals should "never run" from a cougar and to instead maintain eye contact, stand up tall and make yourself look bigger by waving your arms or jacket above your head. The guidance also says to talk firmly in a loud voice and slowly back away.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — A Palestinian boy was mauled to death by a lion in a private zoo in the Gaza Strip on Monday, according to the coastal territory’s police force, run by the Hamas group.

Police officers said 6-year-old Hamada Iqtiet had climbed the fence in the zoo in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, and reached an opening in the cage before the lion mauled him. An investigation was underway, they said.

The boy’s family disputed the account, saying Hamada — who was visiting the Asdaa Park with his mother and other family members, according to relatives — had only reached an outer fence, where the lion was standing, when he was attacked.

It was the first known fatality from animals kept at private zoos in the crowded and impoverished Palestinian territory. Gaza has several small private zoos where animals are kept in deplorable conditions.

The animals have suffered from repeated fighting between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers, neglect, starvation and lack of medical care. International animal welfare groups have carried out several missions to evacuate animals, especially lions, to safe havens in Jordan and Africa.

According to reports, the dog was put down after animal control officers were able to locate the animal.

Sailors in Spain started shooting at the killer whales (orca) that surrounded them

On August 20, footage appeared on the network showing sailors in the Strait of Gibraltar near the city of Tarifa shooting back from killer whales surrounding their yacht. This incident brought the three-year confrontation between marine predators and humans to a new level. Animal rights activists immediately raised a fuss, and scientists spread their hands again — they don't know why killer whales attack small vessels.

Attacks of these marine animals have happened before, but they occurred two or three times a decade and almost never led to serious consequences. The situation changed in May 2020. Since then, hundreds of killer whale attacks on small vessels have been recorded in the waters of Spain and Portugal. Moreover, three yachts went down after these attacks.

Statistically, it turns out that such incidents happen almost every two days. Two days before the shooting off the coast of Tarifa, killer whales attacked the Santa Barbara pleasure boat in the waters of Portugal and tore off its rudder. The sailors poured diesel fuel into the water, trying to scare off predators. As a result, the killer whales swam away, and the Santa Barbara was taken in tow by rescuers.

There were two smaller orcas and one adult. The small ones shook the steering wheel, and the big one sailed away and rammed the yacht into the side with acceleration

A week earlier, a similar case occurred in the same area. Then an elderly sailor encountered killer whales. Aggressive animals also tore off the rudder of his vessel. On June 23, it was reported that three killer whales in the Strait of Gibraltar attacked the yacht of athletes participating in the regatta.

Scientists can not yet name the exact cause of the aggression of killer whales. The fact is that these animals are very smart. Their behavior differs not only in different regions of the planet, but also in individual family groups.

Killer whale families consist of an older female and her cubs of different ages. Each group includes related families. Often they have their own language: a set of vocal signals that they use to communicate. At the same time, some signals remain common to all killer whales.

Intraspecific violence in these predators is almost absent. During family scandals, the most aggressive manifestations of discontent can be indignant flippers slapping on the water.

Each territorial population specializes in catching only one or two types of prey. For example, in the area of the Iberian Peninsula, killer whales feed mainly on bluefin tuna, which gathers in the Strait of Gibraltar from spring to summer, and later migrates to the shores of Spanish Galicia. Most attacks on yachts take place on this route.

more than 500
killer whale attacks
have occurred since 2020

For three years of constant attacks of killer whales, scientists have collected a lot of material about animals from the most aggressive group, which were identified thanks to the data of animal rights activists. They are nicknamed orcas-gladiators and give them names beginning with the word "gladys".

The main instigator of the attacks is considered to be an older killer whale of one of the families, who was given the nickname Gladys the White. Her constant accomplices are Gladys' sisters Clara and Gladys Delilah, as well as the cubs Gladys Filabres and Gladys Tarik.

In addition, Gladys Belaya's mother, Gladys Lamara, is also seen during raids on sailors. At the same time, she never participates in attacks personally, but only observes what is happening from the side.

Why did killer whales start attacking people?

At first, nine predators participated in the attacks on the yachts. This summer, scientists said that their number has grown to 15. According to one version, the older individuals are taught to attack the boats of the young. However, not all experts agree with this theory.

We do not think that killer whales specifically teach cubs this. However, the behavior model has spread vertically to the young, and then horizontally among them, because they consider it something very important
Alfredo Lopez Fernandez
is a biologist from the University of Aveiro, a specialist in the study of killer whales
Now the hypothesis is gaining more and more popularity, according to which in 2020 Gladys Belaya was injured during a meeting with a certain yacht. After that, she and her relatives began to consider all vessels of a certain size a threat.

Killer whales really attack mainly boats up to 12 meters long, going at a speed of about 10 kilometers per hour. Almost always they attack the stern of the yacht first and try to disable its rudder.

About one vessel out of a hundred becomes the target of predators, so perhaps they carefully choose them according to certain parameters, scientists believe. At the same time, if the boat stops, the animals quickly lag behind it.

Some scientists tend to think that killer whales are just having fun. This is the opinion of, for example, the Spanish marine biologist Reno de Stefanis, who said that there is no question of any revenge on boats, and animals just like to play with the screws of small yachts. This, in his opinion, is indicated by the fact that killer whales lose interest in the vessel when it turns off the engine. This opinion is shared by other experts.

They are incredibly curious and playful animals, and it is quite possible that there is more play than aggression in all this
Deborah Giles
researcher of killer whales from the University of Washington and the non-profit organization Wild Orca
According to another extravagant, but not unfounded theory, attacks on ships can be a fashionable trend among killer whales, no matter how strange it may sound. Scientists, for example, observed another similar hobby in 1987, when a group of these predators in Puget Bay in the United States made a fashion to carry salmon carcasses on their heads.

At first, one of the older females appeared with such an ornament on her muzzle. A few weeks later, not only her family, but also two neighbors sported "hats" made of salmon. And then the fashion left as suddenly as it appeared. The following year, some killer whales tried to revive it, but they failed.

Whatever the reason for the attacks of killer whales on yachts off the coasts of Spain and Portugal, animal rights activists are increasingly claiming a growing danger to the local population. The events of August 20 showed that some sailors are ready to take tough measures.

French yachtsman Sebastian Destremau, whose boat was also attacked by killer whales, expressed concerns about the prospects for the development of the conflict and accused journalists of inflating it.

The problem is that the media especially emphasize aggression, and that's why people are arming themselves, dragging shotguns on board

The Spanish government has already launched a program according to which all local killer whales need to be marked with GPS beacons to minimize the likelihood of interaction with sailing vessels. The National Cruise Association of Portugal said that its specialists are testing some acoustic devices to scare off killer whales.

However, animal rights activists fear that more and more sailors will take on board weapons and mutilate rare animals, of which there are only about 50 individuals in the region.

FR Sign in 0:10 / 7:57 The Recent Shark Attack In Port Noarlunga: Woman Bitten In The Face
Nov 17, 2023
Just days ago, free diver Bridgette O'Shannessy was bitten in the face by a great white shark while diving off the coast of Adelaide's Port Noarlunga. She was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and is reported to be in stable condition as of the most recent updates (source: the news and social media). A special thank you to Australia's Channel 9 News for their awesome coverage of the event; they own the rights to the clips you see in this video, and I am just using them to educate the public and spread awareness about what seems to be a rising number of incidents involving shark attacks on humans in not just Australia, but the world.

"A leg! It doesn't have a leg!" A shark attacks, bites, and kills a woman on Melaque Beach in Cihuatlán on the coast of Jalisco, the animal tore off her leg https://blogdelnarco.org/2023/12/tiburo
A shark attacked and killed a tourist when she was on the beaches of the tourist center of Melaque , belonging to the municipality of Cihuatlán , on the coast of Jalisco .

The attack happened around 11:45 in the morning this Saturday at the height of the "Aqua fest" water park games, it was reported that a woman was asking for help, as she was stuck and drowning.

When Civil Protection personnel arrived, they confirmed that the person was missing a leg , "apparently severed after being bitten by a shark , although others say it was a crocodile ," according to official reports.

The deceased, according to reports, had gone swimming in the company of her five-year-old son, who was unharmed.

The moment in which the woman is taken from the sea was recorded in a video that was published on the social network Twitter/X .

The municipal government of Cihuatlán launched the alert and reported through social networks the suspension of a swimming event, "Extraordinary event, forces organizers to suspend event, after the shark attack on a tourist in front of the Punta Farallón Aquatic Park and Cooperative in Playa Melaque , San Patricio , municipality of Cihuatlán , Jalisco .

Likewise, the municipal government of La Huerta , adjacent to Cihuatlán, also alerted its citizens on social networks and asked them to be careful about the presence of sharks on the southern coast of Jalisco:

"The Municipal Government of La Huerta reports that given the events that occurred on the coast of the municipality of Cihuatlán Jalisco, the presence of sharks on the southern coast of Jalisco is reported, for which we ask local citizens and tourists to take caution in the face of this event. "There were no recorded shark attacks in this area.

Question: How did the deer find its way inside the facility?

An Iowa mother lost both her legs, parts of her hands and will need facial reconstruction surgery after she was mauled by three pit bulls last week, her family said.

The dogs pounced on Brittany Skoland around 11:30 a.m. Nov. 24 outside her home in Fort Dodge, a city 100 miles northwest of Des Moines.

Police were called after a neighbor reported hearing “someone yelling for help.”

“The officer attempted to scare the dogs away to stop them from attacking the woman, but the dogs would not stop,” Chief Dennis Quinn said in a statement.

With no other option, the officer fired at the animals, killing all three.

Skoland was rushed to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved so severe that she was airlifted to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, known for its verified adult trauma center.

Brittany has lost a lot more then we originally thought, She’s had many surgeries and procedures in the last few days,” her aunt Teresa Hanus wrote in an online fundraiser.

“She has had both legs amputated to her knees and parts of her hands. She is going to need facial reconstruction surgery, she also has serious head trauma and much more.”

The devastated family plans to use the raised funds to make Skoland’s home wheelchair accessible.

“If you know Brittany you know her life is to be outside doing yard work, helping her mom decorate for holidays, and walking/playing with her younger children,” Skoland’s friend Jayden Louise Johnson wrote on Facebook.

Police are still investigating the mauling, but have not filed any charges.

While some shocked neighbors said the pit bulls were typically obedient to their owner, others claimed they’ve had problems with the dogs in the past.

One resident told KCCI it took several rounds to finally subdue the attacking animals.

“I was sitting in my living room, and I was just sitting there and all of a sudden I heard bang bang bang, and I come to the door and I seen all the cops, well there was only one at the time, and I seen the lady laying on the ground and the dogs going at her and the cops shot them. And it was quite a few rounds of ammunition to get them down,” Rosemary Possehn said.
