But on Sunday, the military leadership, Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said, officials could "reasonably" link the object downed that afternoon to the radar signal picked up over Montana based on its flight path and data. "Our team will now work to recover the object in an effort to learn more".

Any real reasonable reasons why they aren't interested in checking further :

The BBC want us to pay attention to the mystery element.

US Northern Command Commander General Glen VanHerck said that there was no indication of any threat.
"I'm not going to categorise them as balloons. We're calling them objects for a reason," he said.
"What we are seeing is very, very small objects that produce a very, very low radar cross-section," he added.
Speculation as to what the objects may be has intensified in recent days.
"I will let the intel community and the counterintelligence community figure that out," Gen VanHerck said when asked if it was possible the objects are aliens or extra-terrestrials.
"I haven't ruled out anything at this point."

It's no longer 'light hearted segment at the end of the broadcast'. They are seriously discussing alien craft in the main headlines. They said they don't consider this a threat, why so serious now?

As has been mentioned, there are probably multiple agendas at play here but the significance of this particular angle should not be underestimated.

Meanwhile, a meteor blazes across the English channel. Don't look up unless we tell you to.

'Balloon Wars': White House Blasts "False" China Accusation Of US Balloons Repeatedly Breaching Airspace

"Its foreign ministry on Monday decried US hypocrisy in asserting that the United States breached Chinese airspace without permission at least 10 times with high-altitude balloons since early 2022. This as Beijing officials have suggested they are currently tracking more."

"It is nothing rare for U.S. balloons to illegally enter other countries’ airspace," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told reporters in a daily briefing. "The U.S. should first reflect upon itself and change course instead of smearing other countries."

Very strange behavior but repetitive. They act in the same way as when they kill, literally, a suspect. A dead man can't talk. The same goes for these objects. That's their way.

As I wrote yesterday, this balloon was not new or special or unusual to the US, yet they chose to make a big deal out of it to ramp up anti-China sentiment in the US in advance of a proxy war in the near future along the same lines as the proxy war against Russia in Ukraine.

Some options for what's going on, without any weighting for probability:

1) It's all fake, and designed as a distraction from other news items, like Nord Stream. (Added, from Twitter: and/or to make you feel helpless, to make you fearful, and probably 50 other reasons.)
2) It's a "false flag" and elements, perhaps inner elite factions, have set this up for various reasons (perhaps congruent with #1).
3) It's military hysteria/jumpiness. After the China spy balloon hysteria, the military is trigger happy. Context: for decades, the U.S. military has grown complacent due to sometimes daily UFO sightings they can do nothing about. After the public and political lashing for being incompetent re: the balloon and not shooting it down, military is now hyper-vigilant. They may feel they can't simply ignore UFO reports, writing them off as anomalous and leaving it at that, lest they miss another scary spy balloon. So they're going after real UFOs, though some may just be prosaic objects.
4) Alien invasion!

All of them have their potential problems. With #3, the question is how they have reportedly been able to shoot these things down, assuming they count as "real" UFOs. It would suggest they're being allowed to shoot them down.

This is pretty cool. Flocks of migrating birds fly up to 10,000 ft sometimes and I believe have prompted alarms in the past. There have also been huge swarms of butterflies and insects that show up on radar plots.

The new BirdCast Migration Dashboard provides summaries of radar-based measurements of nocturnal bird migration, including estimates of the total number of birds migrating, their directions, speeds, and altitudes.
...
The live data feed runs from March 1 to June 15 during spring migration and from August 1 to November 15 during fall migration.
