You may remember that Coretta Scott King and Martin Luther King were honored at the White House in 2002. You may remember that King's wife presented a portrait of her late husband to President Bush.

You may also remember Bush's opening remarks that included a "joke". You can read and listen to the transcript here.

I had a listen to the start of this transcript, and I'm not sure what's worse: Bush delivering this "joke" in a such tasteless, snide way, or the sheeplike audience dutifully laughing along like a Greek Chorus. George even loses track of who he's introducing; in the text it says: "We welcome Bernice and Martin Luther King III", yet on audio he says, "We welcome Bernice and Martin Luther King Ju.. the Third".

Maybe Shrubby has a little difficulty differentiating between dead people and the living?
