More see UFO at Ahipara

Two more witnesses to a reported UFO sighting in Ahipara may have information that can help experts explain the mystery.

On April 28, a man was watching the sunset over the Tasman Sea when he noticed a bright white light in the sky with a short blurry tail behind. It moved very slowly in a northerly direction.

He quickly snapped the object which he says was oval shaped. The photographs were sent to Dr Bruce Maccabee - an optical physicist and UFO expert in the United States Navy - who was baffled by the images.

He reported that the object didn't display flight characteristics that distinguish it as a `craft' of unknown origin but its shape suggests a circular something' with a dome-like top.

Now two people who were fishing in the area have come forward to say they too saw the strange object - and have photographs to prove it. They say they saw a similar object a week later at Lone Pine, north of Ahipara.
UFOCUS - the group which investigates UFO sightings in New Zealand - said the two new witnesses would hopefully shed some light on the enigma.

Founder Suzanne Hansen said they were waiting to inspect the latest photographs.

"It is very interesting that two more people said they saw something in the sky that evening. We'll have to look at the photographs and see if they're similar and also listen to the descriptions to check they match with our other witness. At the moment it's a real mystery," she said.

Dr Maccabee labelled the sighting a UAP - unusual aerial phenomenon. He suggested it could of been a jet aircraft's vapour trail but air traffic control confirmed the nearest aircraft was 380km away.

The Carter Observatory also ruled out the object being space junk or a meteorite.

Ms Hansen thought it was unlikely the photos were a hoax: "I have directly asked the witness if he hoaxed the photos, and he was most adamant that he had not. When you see the full series, you will see that it would take hours and hours to hoax such a thing."

Full details of the sighting will be discussed at the UFOCUS NZ Future Perspectives Conference in Rotorua next month. Leading scientific researcher into UFO phenomena, Dr Roger Leir, will present findings at the conference that indicate humans have received implants made of substances not found on earth.
