Quantum Metaphysics Institute QMI

While rereading an old thread I stumbled upon a reference to this so called QMI in this post:
http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,215.msg81375.html#msg81375

After examining their site just cursory I thought I should signal its existence here, as I'm inclined to evaluate it as a dis-info source. They claim a 4Th Way connection which troubled me. I did a forum wide search for Derek Lamar and for the institute as such too, without any results whatsoever. So it hasn't been signaled before, apparently.

It may be just a minor operation but the superficial likeness with Quantum Future Group/School seems troublesome nonetheless.

Thanks for sharing this Palinurus! The only similarity I see is a three letter acronym that starts with a "Q" and the word Quantum, but the rest is interesting to me for other reasons.

I also checked out the site and can only chuckle at the "seal" built around a saying of René Descartes. Which reminds me of another saying attributed to him: "That which is, is. That which isn't, isn't."

To me, aside from the obvious logical absurdity of asserting that a nonexistent exists (see the pink sheep discussion here: _http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~jl/Essays/paradox.html), I'm of the impression that the underlying assumptions of René Descartes's Cartesian Theater model of consciousness and Cartesian materialism have already been exposed and dismantled. Daniel Dennett supposedly accomplished that with his Multiple Drafts Model of Consciousness, though that model was also attacked for its weaknesses.

If memory serves, specifically, there were four puzzling phenomena that the Cartesian Theater model failed to address. Additionally, I can't find where the model provides an explanation for 'hallucinations.' So, why this guy is displaying Cartesianism so blantantly, I don't know.

The fact of his 'curriculum' and the feel of his 'curriculum' layout reminds me of Descartes' Stalinesque hypothesis which supposedly explains how two unreconciled conscious "events" would be reconciled prior to entering the subject's consciousness, with the final result presented as fully resolved. IOW, that's akin to the show trials of Joseph Stalin in that the verdict is decided in advance and the trial is just for show.

Well, I am glad all are amused, and as the great philosophers of Lennon and McCartney once said, "A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

However, I am sincere in what I am presenting as I am sure you yourselves are as well. In order to deal with things of the Mind and of Spirit and of the Universe... like in the Matrix... sometimes a LEAP is indeed needed to understanding to take place in the mind of "man." It is like the "zero" (whoever discovered it, it was inevitable) it represents a "nothingness" which also when placed at the end of a check several times can please us very much. Also, it is in "nothing" that we can often find something. But more than mind games and playing with words, in order for people to transcend their usually sleep state they must face themselves and all of the things that they believe, whether they be true or not.

As the future is approaching us more rapidly as each nanosecond kicks in it is almost like time is moving backwards. But then there is no time and our own illusion is merely the necessary means to bring about the appearance of motion to communicate things about ourselves in order that we begin to "Wake Up" to "Reality."

Decartes is a very important part of the development of cohesive thinking and "nothingness" is an important concept as well. They go hand in hand, nothing and something, just as to exist and to not exist. The important thing to understand is that without understanding both we cannot achieve the change which is necessary even if only to change our viewpoint to understand the Truth.

Silly as it may sound, and I did not intend it, but perhaps the humor of the Universe or the humor of the collective unconscious, but when I came up with Q.M.I. I realized how much it appeared to sound like "Who Am I?" which is the most important question one arrives at in "self-discovery." And it is within "self-discovery" that one begins to understand "Reality." What ever level of reality it is at that point. I know you understand this.

Keep on with the good "Work."

Sincerely,

Dr. Derek Lamar
