Naudet brothers not amused by Loose Change

The second edition of Loose Change circulates for at least 6 months around the globe, and only now Gedeon and Jules Naudet are taking legal action concerning footage in the film used without permission.

"Accordingly, we hereby demand that you confirm to us within three business days of the receipt of this letter that you have removed all footage taken from our clients' 9/11 Film from your Loose Change Film, including from the version of your film that can be downloaded on the internet, the DVD version of your film, and anywhere else you have used or are using our clients' footage."

Seems like Dylan Avery (the maker) won't be available for some time, while cleansing the internet and its catacombs. Any thoughts about this case?

The web server of the lawyer firm (www.fgks.com) is swamped. For starters, their whois entry, the whois entry of their upstream provider, and a traceroute to them (some entries obscured to keep myself to myself). *** NOTICE THEIR WHOIS ENTRY ***, notice also the interesting fact that at NY lawyer firm has a provider in canada. notice also that the traceroute resolves to a spray.net host. i remember obscurely that spray.net has been connected to you-know-who in the past. i guess it will be fun to ferret out info about this lawyer company once their website is accessible again.

as for the complaints themselves, the video scenes in question (plane overhead crashing into the wtc ...) have been in the public domain since 9/11 w/o challenge, so IMHO (IANAL) the claim could well be baseless, a classic case of harassment & intimidation by way of lawyers.

more fgks.com fun:

- spray.net is (from above traceroute) in SWEDEN. it would be interesting to know where other people arrive by use of traceroute from other locations, US for example.
- zabco (hosting provider) = alentus "a privately held company". their hosting service is nothing special as compared to what any US hosting provider could do for the same prices.
 
According to an email I got today from Dylan Avery, the director of LOOSE CHANGE, he has resolved the problems with the Naudet brothers so LOOSE CHANGE is still being distributed.
