There is also the difference between "rich" and "wealthy." I got this actually from a funny Chris Rock comedy routine.

He'll be in a club doing stand-up and will say, "in this country no black folks are wealthy." Immediately people will call out, "what about Oprah?" "What about Bill Cosby?"

He'll then say, no, "Cosby is rich, but a wealthy person writes him checks. Oprah is rich, but you can screw up rich. I could get a crack habit and be poor in a few months. But you can't screw up Wealth. The wealthy people are the people whose ancestors made great fortunes, the Heinz's, the Fords, the Vaselines."
