(but the answer is on the Web too)

hmmmmm ......You've cheated? It's not funny!

OK .....how can you do 7 equilateral triangles with 6 matches?

Still on the web:

...I hope you got not a "web" instead of brain...

The next enigma will be more serious ! Rendez-vous to "History" index in few days with "Glozel affair"...

I think I got it (no cheating). Drew it in paint so lines are not exactly equal length but close enough I think:

Bah just noticed the post with the answer after all this work! Ok but mine are equilateral, although they do overlap (though u never said non-overlapping and you DID say equilateral so I think my answer is better than the one that was linked to).

Edit: Nevermind, mine are not equilateral, they are "right" triangles lol..

Just came up with another solution with no overlapping triangles (they're not equilateral or right-angled but whatever :D)

It is the other way around. It is because we have a brain that we think to use the web. ;)

Bravo for your effort but there's a trick :

Make a pyramid with all matches and put it on a mirror! You will have 2 pyramids with a common base and this makes 7 equilateral triangles...
