hey guys,

We ran into this video that seems to have been taken completely out of context in which several media sites in Spanish are translating his words into "the latin american filth is coming to Rusia" when referring to the Zika virus epidemic, i was just curious to see if one of our russian speakers could translate what he said directly.

here's the link: _https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDSLoyFD6NY

thank you guys!

He used the word "гадость", which can be translated as filth, though I think "yuck" would be more exact in this case.

He said: "Some kind of yuck is coming from Latin America. Some kind of virus?"

I think the point is that Latin American media have wrongly taken the "filth" to refer to L.A. itself, when it is clear by the context that Putin was referring to the virus. Taking it out of context like that is, of course, ridiculuous propaganda and I think it was initially done on purpose by a couple of outlets to follow the line of 'Putin is evil', and then other media picked it up because Latin Americans are so proud and prone to be offended (like most people everywhere, really), and scandal sells. But thinking logically, would those infected with the virus say that it is not filth but something beautiful instead??
