Q: So, Atlantis existed during the ice age?
A: Largely, yes. And the world's climate was scarcely any colder away from the ice sheets than it is today.

Thx.

"away from" means not near. Like Europe today is "away from" the ice sheets, i.e. not close to. So during Atlantis, the part of the world that was not close to the ice sheets experienced the same temperature that those same areas experience today.

I get it ! :)
"away from" was not associated with a distance in my mind but with "colder".

Thx Perceval.
