Canadian Orwellian world: Lockdowns, vaccines passports and more

Back in this threat, there were some BCCDC charts, and now the BCCDC says this:

Snip:
In place of the removed dashboard pages, the ministry referred CTV News to vaccine effectiveness studies summarized on the BCCDC website. The most recent of these was posted on March 8, and references data collected from September 2021 to February 2022, nearly six months ago.
"Vaccine effectiveness is a more rigorous and systematic way to assess the vaccine outcomes and assess the strength of protection from the vaccine," the ministry said, adding that such studies also "take longer to conduct."
The ministry did not say when the next vaccine effectiveness study would be posted.
With the officials scrambling to vaccinate all our young ones, with promotion after promotion (among GTA doctors who suddenly died who did some of the promoting), this was also a comment on CTV Facebook:

And from CTV's Facebook, notice this lady's reaction with her comment:

This is about the CBC, and in all honesty it is easy to forget who they are, do they still have viewers? Well apparently The CBC is about to get Way worse, states the headline, and at one time I was (cough) once a CBC radio program listener from time to time, but somehow now lost the channel.

The CBC is about to get 30% more woke thanks to new requirements imposed on them by the Canadian Radio‑television and Telecommunications (CRTC). The CBC will now have to dedicate 30% of its English-language programming to woke causes such as promoting “racialized” voices,” “disabled voices” and language minorities. Did anyone on the woke left really feel that the CBC wasn’t serving them enough biased left wing content? Also, doesn’t the CBC already surpass that target? Harrison Faulkner breaks it all down on this week’s episode of Ratio’d.

Also on the show, Canada’s deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland embarrasses herself once again as she condescendingly talked down to Canadian farmers – just before her government plans to implement its fertilizer reduction scheme. She wants Canadians to know that she loves our farmers and because she grew up on a farm, she’s just like them!

Freeland wasn’t done there this week. The day before she insulted farmers, she wanted Canada to know how much she loves our truckers. Do you remember when Freeland giggled as she froze innocent Canadians out of their bank accounts? Well now, she wants those same truckers to know how important a role they play in our economy and how much the government values them. Because of the fact that she got roasted on Twitter for those comments, she is taking home the Ratio of the Week Award.

In other news (shout out to JP Sear), "Alexander Graham Bell is next on the woke historical revisionist chopping block" in Canada, followed by forts, possibly to be made into kindling?

24 historic Canadian forts are currently also being investigated for “colonial assumptions.” Those include British Columbia’s Fort Steele, Fort La Reine in Manitoba, Fort Malden in Ontario and Fort Laprairie in Quebec.

Along with forts, is the purging of content on the "Library and Archives Canada website" to make them "Safe & Effective" no doubt. Followed by Vancouver hiring lifeguards committed to “decolonization and equity" - had thought their commitment was on first aid, however the latter two must be important in saving lives. :-/

In economic news, Canada's own Goldman Sachs boy, Mark Carney, and former Bank of of England Governor and sometimes ear whisperer to the Canadian liberal government, is set to takeover as Chair of Brookfield Asset Management.

The group’s asset management unit oversees $392 billion (€379.9 billion) in fee-bearing assets across real estate, infrastructure, renewable energy, credit and private equity on behalf of institutional investors. Brookfield, one of Canada’s largest corporations, also has more than $40 billion (€38.7 billion) of directly owned net assets, including real estate holdings such as London’s Canary Wharf and large stakes in publicly traded partnerships it has spun off over the past decade.

On Bloomberg not to long ago, Carney spoke of ensuring the banks get interest rates over inflation numbers - and they are working hard to push those inflationary numbers high, later to be surpassed with interest rates. Mark has it all figured out. ;-)

I'm seeing and hearing in the news lately about this new "Strong Mayor" proposal being introduced in Ontario by Doug Ford -
The Ontario government is putting forward legislation that would give Toronto's mayor greater powers, but what exactly does that mean?

Toronto City Council currently delegates some of the powers included in the proposed legislation to the mayor already, but the new law would make it impossible for council to take away those powers. Others, such as a veto power on matters of provincial importance, are completely new.
Maybe they should just call it the "Dear Leader" legislation, just to keep in line with their dictatorial/totalitarian leanings (osit).

Had been provided with an article (from 2017) written by the Michael Jabara Carley (professor of history at the Université de Montréal) - originally sourced to Strategic Culture Foundation (SCF), which was titled "Will Chrystia Freeland Finally Ruin Canadian-Russian Relations?" - well, 5-years later that has become 'Chrystia' clear. Anyway, I've read much from Carley over the years and had not remembered this title on SOTT.net, so checked. No, not there. You can still find the article here, though (Note: Carley is being heavily attacked and more or less sanctioned for his stance:-():

Up until last week, you would find articles such as this on SOTT.net sourced from SCF, and checking now, SCF (in Canada at least) comes up with this:

As for all the old SOTT.net SCF sourced articles, it is the same.

Maybe it will get rerouted (I'm not an IT guy)

Funny enough, if it was not so sad, from February of this year a Fact Checking NGO had this to say on SCF:

History

Founded in 2010, the Strategic Culture Foundation (SCF) provides a platform for exclusive analysis, research, and policy comment on Eurasian and global affairs.
SCF completely lacks transparency by not listing owners or editors. Further, the domain is registered in Russia, which the owners do not openly disclose, and there is no contact page.
Read how the Russian Government influences Media.

Funded by / Ownership

Ownership of the Strategic Culture Foundation is not disclosed. We cannot determine how revenue is derived as there is no monetization source (ads, donations, etc.). However, the site features authors and has maintenance costs, so funding comes from somewhere.

Analysis / Bias

The Strategic Culture Foundation is a Russian propaganda website that favors the authoritarian right. This source also frequently reports pro-Russian conspiracy theories such as these:
SCF reports favorably on former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin when not reporting conspiracy theories. Other topics feature Homophobia and Antisemitism.
Finally, in a Politico article, the Strategic Culture Foundation was described as “a part of the Kremlin’s influence apparatus and noted that Russia has long sought to amplify the voices of Western conspiracy theorists.”
Overall, we rate the Strategic Culture Foundation (SCF) a Questionable source based on extreme right-wing bias, promotion of Russian propaganda and conspiracy theories, as well as a complete lack of transparency with the goal to deceive readers. This is not a credible source. (D. Van Zandt 12/27/2016) Updated (02/25/2022)

Canada-wide shortage of liquid Children's Tylenol now also impacting chewables

A months-long, nationwide shortage of liquid Children's Tylenol due to a combination of supply chain issues and unseasonably high demand prompted Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children to inform caregivers and patients on Monday of potential challenges in accessing liquid acetaminophen and ibuprofen, along with a recommendation to obtain a prescription from their SickKids care provider to help ensure access.

Here is the Canadian legal lawyer Bruce Pardy, from a week ago.

This is the epic moment when the government’s expert witness who was relied upon to justify vax mandates for travel-Director General at Transport Canada’s “Covid Recovery Team”-is stunned into silence and has to admit there was no document supporting a recommendation for mandates

Director General TC:
"I can here you and I'm reflecting on your question"

:umm:

Adding:

It gets better. The Director General then appears to have undocumented discussions, but no minutes, no notes.

And lastly:

And when counsel for plaintiffs asks government to produce notes of discussions re: implementing mandatory jab policy that would prevent millions of Canadians from flying - lawyer for government blocks the request. With all due respect, this is an absolute disgrace.

If from BC, Liberal party strong arm tactics against their own sees:

BC Liberal leader Kevin Falcon has kicked veteran MLA John Rustad from caucus for retweeting Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore’s controversial views around climate change.

The tweet in question shared by Rustad argued against the claim that CO2 drives global temperature changes.

“No net warming in Australia for the past 10 years. And the Great Barrier Reef has more coral cover this year than ever recorded. The case for CO2 being the control knob of global temperature gets weaker every day,” Moore wrote.

From said leader:

"While a diversity of perspectives are encouraged and a source of strength" blah blah, you're off the team (and others be forewarned).

So this little cockroach of a transport minister has told us here in Canada that Covid-19 is to blame for airport delays, not us in government. Oh, and the ArriveCan app is here to stay.

Transport minister says COVID-19 to blame for airport delays, flight cancellations

OTTAWA -
Transport Minister Omar Alghabra told the House of Commons transport committee the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting labour shortages are to blame for the significant wait times at Canadian airports, and said the ArriveCAN app is here to stay.

If this is true, the situation in Canada is taking a deeper step in its totalitarian descent:

EXCLUSIVE LEAK: Trudeau installing weapons armouries, interrogation rooms for Ministry of Climate Change

"Architectural plans have been leaked to The Counter Signal, revealing Trudeau’s sinister plans to weaponize the climate change agenda.

Climate-Police-1024x576.png

The Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is building a new facility in Winnipeg that will be home to a firearms armoury, interrogation rooms, biological labs, media relations offices, “controlled quiet rooms,” and intelligence facilities.

The plans, which were drawn up by a firm in Winnipeg, open a window into Trudeau’s future plans for Climate Enforcement.

Down the hall from the proposed “Firearms Storage” rooms are several evidence rooms, interrogation suites, and adjacent recording rooms."

We've heard about FEMA camps being built in the US and quarantine camps in Canada, so it is not surprising that something like this is in the works. I can't help but think there will be serious blowback if and when something like this is built and used. There is already talk about Canadian Fed agents going out to the properties of farmers and checking Nitrogen and Saskatchewan authorities warning these agents would be arrested: doesn't look like this Federal push will go very far.

I wish to add, that the Greenpeace co-founder Patrik Moore was just recently interviewed by the Corona Investigative Committee, No 118 "The Truth Pact".

It was an interesting interview, albeit at the same time partially controversial (in my opinion) and i have to listen to it a third time in order to (perhaps) understand better what exactly what he meant. Reiner Füllmich and Dr Wolfgang Wodarg were very puzzled (in a positive yet conflicting way) to say the least, because a lot of their views got turned upside down. It was the longest interview ever recorded by the Corona Investigative Committee; 1 hour 51 minutes.

We've heard about FEMA camps being built in the US and quarantine camps in Canada, so it is not surprising that something like this is in the works. I can't help but think there will be serious blowback if and when something like this is built and used. I agree, I don't think they'll be capable of implementing a full totalitarian climate state. They have neither the resources nor the competence to do so, nor do they have sufficient buy-in from the populace ... to the contrary, their efforts are generating social friction that considerably raise the costs of enforcement and implementation.

The general pattern over the last few years has been one of 'mostly bark, not much bite'. Scary plans are announced in the media, which successfully scare some fraction of the population into pre-emptive compliance. Later, the plans fall apart. In the case of the US, federal jab mandates collapsed in the courts. The door to door jab harassment (remember that?) was quietly ended after a month ... probably because they were getting verbally abused every time they knocked on a door. Child jabs, announced with much fanfare, have received negligible buy-in.

I suspect it will be the same with this climate emergency stuff. It's all ooga-booga relying on the perception that the state is omnipotent and resistance is futile. Every time resistance is demonstrated to be fertile rather futile, that perception gets weaker - a few more stand up, and regime supporters are a little bit more alone. At a certain point a tipping point is reached, a preference cascade becomes undeniable, and the state quietly ends the policy while trying to save face by pretending that was what they intended all along: see, the Canadian government ending the travel mandate, or the CDC revising its guidelines.
