I recently watched Being There, starring Peter Sellers and Shirley Maclaine. It's a really clear depiction of someone who is completely empty of emotions and is entirely mechanical. And it shows how other people quickly project their own emotions and thoughts onto other people. There's more to it of course, and I'll leave that for those who want to watch it.
