I first heard this song on an episode of BSG, and started listening to it, I was never really a big Hendrix/Dylan fan but this song rocks, anyone else like this song? I haven't heard the Dylan version yet, but I will try and rustle it up, I am sure henry has a it.

Bob Dylan/Jimi Hendrix said:
"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl

yeah. the version I heard was on U2's "Rattle and Hum", back when ... they were still good :) and they had more of that raw energy.
I can't think what the Dylan version sounds like. maybe I've not heard it either.

Turns out there's some versions you can hear on : http://bobdylan.com/songs/watchtower.html

His version's pretty good, but as several people have pointed out, the most well known version is Hendrix's cover, even Dylan changed his performance of it.

you made me curious so I just played it through http://www.b3ta.cr3ation.co.uk/site/music-plus
I'm not a huge Dylan fan either, but yup. sounds ok. maybe a bit too understated for my desensitized superficial tastes :/

The Grateful Dead cover it as well:

I played this song at a house party a month or two ago. At the end we segued into the end of stairway to heaven. Maybe some day I'll upload a video for you all.
