In Russia there is still 100% free movement inside the country. Everyone works as usual, no restrictions in this respect either. Some new measures have been introduced in terms of education: the students are offered to study remotely as an option and schoolchildren have two weeks of spring vacations instead of one. Also, some mass events have been canceled or postponed (concerts, sport tournaments, etc.).

There is no apparent panic here. I haven't seen any empty shelves or hysteria in local shops. Some people buy more than usual, but there are no crowds or shortages, at least for now.

Here is how journalist Bryan MacDonald sees the current situation in Russia:

The latest from Moscow:

In Moscow, all outdoor events have been banned and schools will be closed. Meanwhile, indoor gatherings will be restricted to a maximum of 50 people. The orders were published on the website of the capital's mayor Sergey Sobyanin and came only a few hours after a spokesman said the Kremlin "saw no need" to introduce a state of emergency.

Under the measures, schools will be shut from March 21, with only small daycare groups in primary schools excluded. Meanwhile, older people are asked to limit contact with the outside world as much as possible and to remain at home. All visitors from the rest of Europe, and North America, will be subject to 14 days of self-isolation on arrival. At the same time, bus drivers will stop issuing tickets to protect themselves from contact.

I feel okay (at least I think I do). Hope it stays this way! Fingers crossed! Just a slight congested throat but I've had that for weeks. Someone I know had the flu back in December and they passed that across - I know this as they said they had a congested throat for a while.

On the covid-19, mostly worried about my other half whose had this constant dry cough for a couple of days! I know... Right? Supposedly one of the classic symptoms. But she insists she's fine... Stubbornly so! No other symptoms.

In any case, next 2 or so weeks should be interesting.

This thing better be a hoax because loads of people will come down with it. One of the employees in my company is certified confirmed... They had to clear out a WHOLE floor and deep clean!

Also was walking to the supermarket yesterday and heard the darnedest thing... A random stranger was walking in the opposite direction talking to his wife...I heard bits of the convo - she was like, what kind of cough is it? He was like, 'think it's a dry cough' in a really dismayed and defeated fashion.

It's everywhere. DAMN YOU BORIS! (#blameBoris)
Well, I have had a dry cough for 20+ years now.

To merely read is not productive towards advancement. One must apply the knowledge gleaned.

Best of luck in dealing with your personal issues.

I don't even know how this will prevent people from going because they can't actually "close the beaches" despite what Olympian palaces the rulers think they are inhabiting. And if they were cabable of thinking or they actually cared about the well being of the civilians, they would be supporting that people get some fresh air and sun, and enjoy what is avaible to enjoy in life. It's just unjustifiable madness at this point.
Exactly! Preventing us from getting sun is an evidence that all their show about science and medicine attesting the dangerousness of this virus is a lie. Because science itself says that sun rays are virucide/fungicide + vit D good for immunity.

So, they lockdown people, put them in front of screens (TV, smartphone, computer), give them a glass of fear, give them anxiolytics and other sedative drugs (and their side effects, especially sleeping - understand sleeping in Gurdjieff's definition too). Result? A feeble citizen, with low immunity, low muscles, sleepy, sluggish. The perfect citizen for them.

This whole event has brought to my mind again Immanuel Velikovsky's late career book MANKIND IN AMNESIA.

As with all his work it has some holes but its essential premise - of a species wide amnesia as a result of a suppressed and unprocessed ancestral horror from the dim past - seems to be playing out - if only in its first stages - in this mass hysteria. Yes, so many people are responding to being programmed, corralled etc by the mass media and authorities, but they are also reciprocating with the kind of behavior only a week ago they would have laughed at in others. It seems deeply instinctive and 'naturally' way out of proportion, as if the threat is something unconsciously familiar and way, way greater.

The book is essentially an examination of how the knowledge was deliberately suppressed generation to generation and how the suppression was welcomed as a relief from the underlying inherited unconscious fear and stress that as a species we simply couldnt process so it was willingly buried, until we reach our age when the collective level of ignorance concerning our interaction with the above is at and unparalleled low level in human history.

One long passage below from the pen of Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) always stood out for me - and although it refers to a great comet's slow arrival into the collective consciousness, its tone of mounting psychological stress and madness made me think of what we see today.

Edgar Allan Poe wrote a short tale: The Conversation of Eiros and Charmion.

Upon ending his earthly life, Eiros has just arrived in the Beyond and is greeted there by Charmion: they knew each other when on Earth. Charmion, for a number of years a denizen of the Land of Bliss (“Aidenn”), says:

I am burning with anxiety to hear the details of that stupendous event which threw you among us. Tell me of it ... of the world which has so fearfully perished. ... When, coming out from among mankind, I passed into Night through the Grave - at that period, if I remember aright, the calamity which overwhelmed you was utterly unanticipated. But, indeed, I knew little of the speculative philosophy of the day.

Eiros replies:

The individual calamity was, as you say, entirely unanticipated; but analogous misfortunes had been long a subject of discussion with astronomers. I need scarce tell you, my friend, that even when you left us, men had agreed to understand those passages in the most holy writings which speak of the final destruction of all things by fire, as having reference to the orb of the earth alone. But in regard to the immediate agency of the ruin, speculation had been at fault from that epoch in astronomical knowledge in which the comets were divested of the terrors of flame. The very moderate density of these bodies had been well established. They had been observed to pass among the satellites of Jupiter, without bringing about any sensible alteration either in the masses or in the orbits of these secondary planets. We had long regarded the wanderers as vapory creations of inconceivable tenuity, and as altogether incapable of doing injury to our substantial globe, even in the event of contact. But contact was not in any degree dreaded; for the elements of all the comets were accurately known. That among them we should look for the agency of the threatened fiery destruction had been for many years considered an inadmissible idea.

But wonders and wild fancies had been, of late days, strangely rife among mankind;
and although it was only with a few of the ignorant that actual apprehension prevailed, upon the announcement by astronomers of a new comet, yet this announcement was generally received with I know not what of agitation and mistrust.

The elements of the strange orb were immediately calculated, and it was at once conceded by all observers, that its path, at perihelion, would bring it into very close proximity with the earth. There were two or three astronomers, of secondary note, who resolutely maintained that a contact was inevitable. I cannot very well express to you the effect of this intelligence upon the people. For a few short days they would not believe an assertion which their intellect, so long employed among worldly considerations, could not in any manner grasp. But the truth of a vitally important fact soon makes its way into the understanding of even the most stolid. Finally, all men saw that astronomical knowledge lied not, and they awaited the comet.

Its approach was not, at first, seemingly rapid; nor was its appearance of very unusual character. It was of a dull red, and had little perceptible train. For seven or eight days we saw no material increase in its apparent diameter, and but a partial alteration in its color. Meanwhile the ordinary affairs of men were discarded, and all interests absorbed in a growing discussion, instituted by the philosophic, in respect to the cometary nature. Even the grossly ignorant aroused their sluggish capacities to such considerations. The learned now gave their intellect - their soul - to no such points as the allaying of fear, or to the sustenance of loved theory. They sought - they panted for right views. They groaned for perfected knowledge. Truth arose in the purity of her strength and exceeding majesty, and the wise bowed down and adored. That material injury to our globe or to its inhabitants would result from the apprehended contact, was an opinion which hourly lost ground among the wise; and the wise were now freely permitted to rule the reason and the fancy of the crowd. It was demonstrated, that the density of the comet’s nucleus was far less than that of our rarest gas; and the harmless passage of a similar visitor among the satellites of Jupiter was a point strongly insisted upon, and which served greatly to allay terror.

Theologists, with an earnestness fear-enkindled, dwelt upon the biblical prophecies, and expounded them to the people with a directness and simplicity of which no previous instance had been known. That the final destruction of the earth must be brought about by the agency of fire, was urged with a spirit that enforced everywhere conviction; and that comets were of no fiery nature (as all men now knew) was a truth which relieved all, in a great measure, from the apprehension of the great calamity foretold.

It is noticeable that the popular prejudices and vulgar errors in regard to pestilences and wars - errors which were wont to prevail upon every appearance of a comet - were now altogether unknown. As if by some sudden convulsive exertion, reason had at once hurled superstition from her throne. The feeblest intellect had derived vigour from excessive interest. What minor evils might arise from the contact were points of elaborate question. The learned spoke of slight geological disturbances, of probable alterations in climate, and consequently in vegetation; of possible magnetic and electric influences. Many held that no visible or perceptible effect would in any manner be produced. While such discussions were going on, their subject gradually approached, growing larger in apparent diameter, and of a more brilliant luster. Mankind grew paler as it came. All human operations were suspended.

There was an epoch in the course of the general sentiment when the comet had attained, at length, a size surpassing that of any previously recorded visitation. The people now, dismissing any lingering hope that the astronomers were wrong, experienced all the certainty of evil. The chimerical aspect of their terror was gone. The hearts of the stoutest of our race beat violently within their bosoms. A very few days sufficed, however, to merge even such feelings in sentiments more unendurable. We could no longer apply to the strange orb any accustomed thoughts. Its historical attributes had disappeared. It oppressed us with a hideous novelty of emotion. We saw it not as an astronomical phenomenon in the heavens, but as an incubus upon our hearts, and a shadow upon our brains. It had taken, with inconceivable rapidity, the character of a gigantic mantle of rare flame, extending from horizon to horizon.

Yet a day, and men breathed with greater freedom. It was clear that we were already within the influence of the comet; yet we lived. We even felt an unusual elasticity of frame and vivacity of mind. The exceeding tenuity of the object of our dread was apparent; for all heavenly objects were plainly visible through it. Meantime, our vegetation had perceptibly altered; and we gained faith, from this predicted circumstance, in the foresight of the wise. A wild luxuriance of foliage, utterly unknown before, burst out upon every vegetable thing.

Yet another day - and the evil was not altogether upon us. It was now evident that its nucleus would first reach us. A wild change had come over all men; and the first sense of pain was the wild signal for general lamentation and horror. The first sense of pain lay in a rigorous constriction of the breast and lungs, and an insufferable dryness of the skin. It could not be denied that our atmosphere was radically affected; the conformation of this atmosphere and the possible modifications to which it might be subjected, were now the topics of discussion. The result of investigation sent an electric thrill of the intensest horror through the universal heart of man.

Why need I paint, Charmion, the now disenchained frenzy of mankind? That tenuity in the comet which had previously inspired us with hope, was now the source of the bitterness of despair. In its impalpable gaseous character we clearly perceived the consummation of Fate. Meantime a day again passed, bearing away with it the last shadow of Hope. We gasped in the rapid modification of the air. The red blood bounded tumultuously through its strict channels. A furious delirium possessed all men; and, with arms rigidly outstretched toward the threatening heavens, they trembled and shrieked aloud. But the nucleus of the destroyer was now upon us: even here in Aidenn, I shudder while I speak.

Let me be brief - brief as the ruin that overwhelmed. For a moment there was a wild lurid light alone, visiting and penetrating all things. Then - let us bow down, Charmion, before the excessive majesty of the great God! - then, there came a shouting and pervading sound, as if from the mouth itself of HIM; while the whole incumbent mass of ether in which we existed, burst at once into a species of intense flame, for whose surpassing brilliancy and all-fervid heat even the angels in the high Heaven of pure knowledge have no name.

Thus ended all.

Perhaps people know something they don't know they know... and certainly don't wish to know they know... that something evil this way comes.

Update from my workplace in germany. People are pretty tense and afraid. The hysteria has a pretty pronounced negative effect on people. It pretty much feels like another 9/11 kind of thing to me (in terms of the effects on the population). Everyone is more or less in a shock state. There was an emergency meeting in which the chiefs decided to put a part of the company into short-time work beginning tomorrow. Ever more strict demands are been given out by the chiefs to everyone to avoid contact and such. People from outside can't enter the company. The chiefs are obviously getting ever more concerned about the future of the company. In the meeting they apparently also complained about the lack of clear guidance/statements by the government and the fueling of the panic. In short, things are getting pretty chaotic at our company and it seems that this pretty much happens in every company in germany now. People are not allowed to work if they show the smallest signs of the possible "virus". People who were in contact with people who are possibly infected by the "virus" can and will also be put under voluntary confinement at home for at least two weeks.

They hysterically try to implement this or that measure "to slow down the virus" even though most of it doesn't make logical sense and is ridiculous. In the IT space (people working on PC's) the situation seems to get pretty bad too, many people going to "home office" now. Also, the closing of schools and kindergartens obviously makes things for a lot of parents in germany pretty difficult; especially for those who also have to work. Who takes care of the kids? Also, people are suggested to stay home if they show the "smallest signs of the virus" all over germany, in pretty much every company I'm afraid. All this alone is already getting pretty dangerous for the economy I think. And it has just started. Also, I think many people will use this opportunity now to "make sick" for two or more weeks, even though they have no illness. It is the perfect opportunity for some people to make sick without anyone complaining. Instead, making sick is now encouraged. Also, it seems the question who pays for people getting on a two-week voluntary confinement (or longer) and if it should be covered by the workers vacation days, flexitime, government or health insurance seems to be something nobody knows about (including the chiefs). No clear statements from the government. In our company for example, people now have to use their flextime for the two or more weeks of confinement at home if they "show signs". Obviously, people won't like that either. In short; chaos.

The latest from Moscow:

It is not very clear what is meant by "schools will be shut from March 21" though, because March 21 is the normal start of the school vacations, so they would get shut on this day in any case. But perhaps the schedule in Moscow is different. We'll see how it goes from here. :-)

I heard the same type of rumors yesterday evening. I have family working at the UN in Geneva and there have been several diplomats talking about France's containment in the coming days. People will have a few hours to chose the place of their containment, and then everything will be under lockdown for 45 days. The police and the army will block all roads outside cities. I don't think that it will be possible to confine those in rural area though. Our army isn't bif enough to monitor every city/village..
They can with cameras, with us military that have been sent, with their terrorists from war zones they want to import here, etc...

Same, I got the same feedbacks from UN & EU staff, as well as from some friends in the French Army / Gendarmerie ... but let's see what will be announced at 8pm :(

Terrific passage from Poe, and yeah, the same thing I've been wondering about. I keep thinking about the closing statement from the 28 Dec 2019 session:

A: Now, we would like to say something of interest to all: Soon things in your realm will become very chaotic and strange. It will give chills to many. Be not alarmed! It will pass and there will be a new reality to explore. Cosmic forces will be displayed and there will be many searching for answers. Be prepared to give the help that is needed. Be together in love and peace. Goodbye.

One thing has me wondering:

We all know that big corporations own governments pretty much and because of that, direct policy decisions. But here, with shutting down entire countries, we have a situation that is apparently very damaging to many, if not most, big corporations.

So, what is up with that?

We have to think that representatives of the same international corporations are in on something, and are apparently willing to take this apparent hit, so what the heck is going on?

I posed the question to Ark and he answered, jokingly, that all the elite must be planning to take off for Mars. Yeah, it's a joke, but can anyone else think of what could scare the head honchos of nearly all the corporations in the world, and gov leaders, so that they would be willing to take this truly absurd path? Surely, any of them with firing neurons can see that Corona Virus is NOT a huge threat to anybody. (Well, maybe Soros, Biden, Sanders and other old, unhealthy people.

So again, why are they all falling into line with what is basically total self-destruction of companies and wealth?
