Your last choice track before the meteors hit?

Some tracks that came to my mind:

Pink Floyd - The Great Gig In The Sky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_lqJLb0H_o

Bob Dylan - All Along The Watchtower
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YanjY9CsPDQ

R.E.M. It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Accompanied by a :cool2: of course.

Although I appreciate the classics, I've got a weakness for modern electronic soundscapes, for instance chillout, glitch and psychill.

Here would be my pick:
The Glitch Mob - Warrior Concerto

Edit: You can feel the power of that song when you enjoy it in an Appolonian rather than Dyonisian manner. It may sound counter-intuitive for such a seemingly active song, but remaining in a peaceful state of self-remembering throughout really brings out its essence. Same for another masterpiece of that group:
The Glitch Mob - We Can Make the World Stop

Yee Haw Meager1. Thanks. I love that song.

For myself, I think an upbeat song would help alleviate the fear of the moment.
Seeing that ball of flame and so on... Any song that generates a smile is a good song.

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher
And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

I don't think death in itself (the after life) is scary, it's a painful death that scares me.

This was the first one that came to mind ;D

Another one would be Megadeth's Set the World Afire

..
Red flash clouds
Choking out the morning sky
They said it'd never come
We knew it was a lie
..
Too bad they couldn't see
This lethal energy
And now the final scene
A global darkening
..

Here is what song struck me as appropriate for the occasion. :cool2:

Life Begin Again w/ Robert Plant -- Afro Celt Sound System
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgvCK1EKaTw

This is the day and the hour
The time when the changing begins
The land and the sky fall quite
Silence moves over the land

The heat of winter still burning
The heart still beating within
Her song echoes a calling
For life to begin again

This is the day and the hour
The time when the changing begins
The land and sky fallen silent
Quiet moves o'er the plain
Quiet moves o'er the plain

The silence moves over the plain

The land and the sky are quiet
The heart is beating within
Her song echoes a calling
For life to begin again
For life to begin again

Found this cute little gem lately -- or better stated: it found me!

Matt Simons -- With You -- from his debut album: Pieces (June 19, 2012).

Seems appropriate for any time of transition, especially because of the chorus lines (bolded):

Honest where I start from
I try and impart my wisdom
A combination, of truth and fear
That's the way it always been
My father and his before him
At times we hurt the ones we love so dear

I'll be with you, I'll be waiting for you
On the other side, on the other side
And the winds that blow they'll guide you home
Get you through the night, get you through the night
It will all be right

My job to control you
Darling though I barely know you
Hoping you'll grow tired and start giving in
Spare the holy water, pour it on my only daughter
Maybe there's a shot, she'll begin again

I'll be with you, I'll be waiting for you
On the other side, on the other side
And the winds that blow they'll guide you home
Get you through the night, get you through the night
It will all be right

So wrong, and I'm here to make it right
For what it's worth
And I'm sorry, yes I'm sorry
If you never felt the love, the love,
The love that you deserve

I'll be with you, I'll be waiting for you
On the other side, on the other side
And the winds that blow they'll guide you home
Get you through the night, get you through the night
It will all be right, it will all be right.

The Bangles: Eternal Flame

_https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H39FAhIpxVk

I asked my wife to have this played at my funeral, should I pass first, as I disappear through the doors.

I'm unearthing this thread after 7 ans of inactivity. I'm wondering if the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré (1803) refers to a similar event as the Carmina Buruna. Anyway the lyrics and the melody are beautiful:

Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna
in die illa tremenda
Quando coeli movendi sunt et terra
Dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem

Deliver me, o Lord, from everlasting death
on that dreadful day
when the heavens and the earth shall be moved
when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire
Choir
Tremens factus sum ego et timeo
dum discussio venerit atque ventura ira

I quake with fear and I tremble
awaiting the day of account and the wrath to come.
Dies illa dies irae
calamitatis et miseriae
dies illa, dies magna
et amara valde
That day, the day of anger,
of calamity, of misery,
that day, the great day,

and most bitter.
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine
et lux perpetua luceat eis
Grant them eternal rest, o Lord,
and may perpertual light shine upon them.
Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna
in die illa tremenda
Quando coeli movendi sunt et terra
Dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem
Deliver me, o Lord, from everlasting death
on that dreadful day
when the heavens and the earth shall be moved
when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire

Here it the song interpreted by the Academy Of St. Martin In The Fields conducted by Sir Neville Marriner with Baritone Thomas Allen:

I remember this thread. It's similar to asking what song would you like played at your funeral. I'm mostly serious, and especially after the COVID madness, we've said "Bring on the Comets." quite a lot. So in a bittersweet way I'm picking Mr. Blue Sky. I think it's also fitting because it has a quick upbeat start and a cometary impact would be sudden. Better to call it Mr. Red Sky at that point.

🎵 And today, is the day we've waited for! 🎵
