One way to approach the question would be to take some of your own assumptions about reality and then research facts and information as well as network about them to see how well the assumption holds up against reality. Then you could decide whether the assumption needs to be changed or not. It could be a very rewarding exercise.
Another approach might be to try and find a situation or general set of circumstances to which at least two people have very different attitudes. For instance, if one person sees a problem but another sees possibility or opportunity (to find a solution ?), what assumption(s) might each person have?
