Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - O'children.

Lyrics:

Pass me that lovely little gun
My dear, my darling one
The cleaners are coming, one by one
You don't even want to let them start
They're knocking now upon your door
They measure the room, they know the score
They're mopping up the butcher's floor
Of your broken little hearts
Children
Forgive us now for what we've done
It started out as a bit of fun
Here, take these before we run away
The keys to the gulag
O children
Lift up your voice, lift up your voice
Children
Rejoice, rejoice
Come on
Come on
Come on
Come on
Here comes Frank and poor old Jim
They're gathering 'round with all my friends
We're older now, the light is dim
And you are only just beginning
Children
We have the answer to all your fears
It's short, it's simple, it's crystal clear
It's round about and it's somewhere here
Lost amongst our winnings
O children
Lift up your voice, lift up your voice
Children
Rejoice, rejoice
The cleaners have done their job on you
They're hip to it, man, they're in the groove
They've hosed you down, you're good as new
And they're lining up to inspect you
Children
Poor old Jim's white as a ghost
He's found the answer that we lost
We're all weeping now, weeping because
There ain't nothing we can do to protect you
O children
Lift up your voice, lift up your voice
Children
Rejoice, rejoice
Hey little train, we are all jumping on
The train that goes to the Kingdom
We're happy, Ma, we're having fun
And the train ain't even left the station
Hey little train, wait for me
I once was blind but now I see
Have you left a seat for me?
Is that such a stretch of the imagination?
Hey little train, wait for me
Was held in chains but now I'm free
I'm hanging in there, don't you see
In this process of elimination
Hey little train, we are all jumping on
The train that goes to the Kingdom
We're happy, Ma, we're having fun (ooh, children)
It's beyond my wildest expectation (ooh, children)
Hey little train, we are all jumping on
The train that goes to the Kingdom
We're happy, Ma, we're having fun (ooh, children)
And the train ain't even left the station (ooh, children)
Hey little train, wait for me
I once was blind but now I see, ooh

I’m a huge Clutch fan and I think this song has tremendous resonance with the demeanor that many on this forum are working towards. The song itself never did much for me when it first came out but when I saw the music video I immediately fell in love. It’s the story of a man fighting the evils of the world that present themselves in the mundane. He does it with confidence, joy and a true sense of love for life.
Without further ado here is “Ghoul Wrangler”

I came across this Bulgarian Folklor and it's inspiring to listen to and I find it empowering as well, are there more kinds of music like this? what do you call this kind of music? Folklore?
This is incredible ... a great sound. Their pitch is fantastic ... one of the great things about groups that only have vocals is that they often stretch the tuning of the chords they sing to make them sound fatter and richer like in this video ... and it's gorgeous (A Heavenly host of angels) ... and the voicings (No pun intended) of the chords they are singing are fairly sophisticated ... at times with them singing super close intervals to one another ... I am glad I'm not trying to get members of a band to sing a lot of these harmonies/intervals/chords ... lol.

Reminds me of an incredibly humbling exercise for most musicians ... Play middle C once( or a note in your vocal range) ... then simply sing chromatically up one semitone at a time to see if you can accurately make it up one octave higher (In tune of course) without referring to the piano or instrument for reference. Most crash and burn about a third to halfway up the octave unless they've referenced the pitch values by what they feel like in their bodies as opposed to what they sound like to their ear. And most who make it all the way up are rarely in tune with the note they started on by the time they get to the 5th ... and their octave would not be in tune with the note they started on either. If you try that exercise you'll get more aware of the infinity of potential pitch values between one semitone and the next. Sorry to go off on a tangent but that is what this incredible performance brought to mind. Thanks for sharing!
