They Walk Among Us

They breathe our breath, and sigh in thoughts
And stalk in stealthy pacing walk.
The other mind is theirs alone;
A transposing of the mother stone.
Among us many sift and glare
But vanish should we come aware.

We've seen them in the parks and towns
Still turning thinkers into clowns;
Suggesting rights and wrongs to do -
All choices should we have a clue!
Among us all they sift and glare
But vanish should we rise aware.

They close our eyes to visions new,
Our ears they fill with sounds askew.
Small glinting fibres fill the air
But few can understand or care.
Among us all as evening falls
In answer to these daytime calls.

At dusk the shadows take their place,
Their stealth is married to disgrace
Of what went on in times before
Our choices fled beyond the door.
How many hundred thousand years
Of human rivers, blood and tears?

They hover as we take our sleep;
The dreamer's inquisition, meek
In offering, but do we take
Them on their words or symbols make?
With focus and alertness sound
Our visions recollected found.

They walk among us, you and I,
They came from far beyond the sky...
In time we may come face to face
Like colours bleeding out of space.
A tryptich calls the rising mind
In spirit to arise in kind.
