The New Zealand Government Strikes again

What is the purpose of “keeping it out as long as possible” i.e.,delaying it?
I think the purpose is because of the governments negligent under-investing in our hospitals. There are nowhere near enough ICU beds (or nurses) to handle a large influx of people, not enough nurses, and they are severely underpaid and overworked at that.

My sister is an ICU triage nurse at an Auckland hospital, and what she sees is this : The majority of people needing ICU beds who have covid are people who already have severe health problems. For example people who are severely overweight. They are the people who "die from covid" (though they would have died from their medical condition in a few months/years anyway - covid just expedited their deaths)

clear overseas evidence that Omicron is MUCH milder than any of the variants to date
My brother is in Sydney at the moment and caught Omicron. He self-isolated for 7 days and is fine now. He said the symptoms were a runny nose, headache and sore throat for a few days, and he was fine after about 3 days. So the big hoo-haa over it is puzzling to say the least.

It still vexes me as to why we are forced to get vaccinated even though we may have recovered from covid naturally, and don't need vaccination

Except all evidence suggests that the vaccines don't work against omicron!
Exactly, they look ridiculous and are their own truth ministry. They still won’t change their strategy. Had they opened the borders after Christmas they could have made themselves look really good. They could have claimed success as covid was kept out until it mutated into the mild version that it is now. They had a get out of jail free card and still didn’t play it. For psychopaths they aren’t even good at being self serving!

There's also the fact that NZ has been fairly lax on its restrictions and it's currently in the middle of summer. Just wait until April (their Autumn) and horse face will start neighing about omicron and boosters and 2 weeks to flatten something.
What do you mean by lax on restrictions?

So Omicron has made it to NZ shores, finally!
The government is in a flap. The whole country is in traffic light red—yep it’s like kindergarten here. Many sporting events have been cancelled such as the Tarawera Ultra Marathon, can’t have those outdoor running people possibly spreading covid to all those other running people footing it for 100k in the open air.
But wait there is more, if you get omicron you need to register and then isolate at home for ten days. No going outside at all, and your household has to isolate for 14 days after your ten days had ended. So they have to stay inside no going anywhere for 24 days! No going to the supermarket nothing, you need to rely on the goodwill of other people to contactlessly deliver anything you might need, like food. Oh if you have a heart attack you are allowed out for emergency health care.
And today they just commandeered all the rapid antigen tests in the country. So they finally approved the importation of these tests last November and now for their new management plan, they need all the tests in the country—so today they took them. All private suppliers who were importing them have to hand them over to the government. Well I’m sure they’ll get paid, they just have to sell to the government.

Anyway it’s a cluster ....
Oh the prime minister cancelled her wedding because of omicron apparently. Word on the street is that her fiancé was caught messing with the nanny again. The last one fell pregnant and got paid off...some people don’t learn...

Steve Oliver and his wife are unvaccinated gym owners in Auckland. They have just been fined $10 000 for operating their business and not being vaccinated.
He did an interview with Chantelle Baker (it’s on Facebook open to view but can’t seem to post a link) Steve talks about the suicide and mental health epidemic that is happening in Auckland and he concludes that the government narrative is simply lies and propoganda. People need to know what is actually going on in New Zealand.
Update: The gym owners have been fined $45 000 and the overseas building owner suddenly has decided to evict them because of $160,000 due in rent when the gym was forced shut during Auckland lockdowns. I don’t know if people realise but our biggest city of 1.5 million people was completely locked down for four months last year. There was a police and military border containing it, easy on a narrow strip of island. Anyway suicides increased dramatically and thousands and thousands of businesses have been destroyed.

There is a witch hunt on any dissent, I know of more people being fined $5000 for not insisting on checking vaccine passes. So even though a huge number don’t support it there are still narks around that can ruin your life.

The amazing thing is that so many people think this is normal even good. Having said that, I'm seeing more disgruntled people who got jabbed expecting life to go back to normal and who feel betrayed. Add to that, the fact the government is now telling people their cloth masks which they have been wearing obediently, don't actually work and now they need to wear N95 masks, of which there is a shortage. "Cloth masks and bandanas just won't cut it any more" she said. Suddenly boom, the old masks you wore to protect others are useless. And STILL some people just accept it and don't question the blatant lunacy of it all. I think so many are in a trance. So sad and so frustrating.

The math could get complicated, what happens if you are in a household of six people, and you each return a positive test at different intervals after the initial case in your household. It could drag on for months. A much better strategy would be to all share intensils and toothbrushes so that everyone gets omicron on day one. Sorted !

Just in case you were thinking the National Party will sort things out...:-(

“We need to speed up the vaccine rollout for 5-11-year-olds with pop-up vaccination clinics in schools (with strict parental consent provisions in place) and consider a shorter gap between first and second doses for children, as other countries have done.

And in Australia, Shifting the Goalposts Yet Again - They Will Never Let Us Be Free Again

Who wants to take bets on the first government to mandate a Covid shot at birth?

This incident happened yesterday. :-( The crowds were protesting against the vaccine mandates in front of parliament house in New Zealand. Latest reports from the ground suggest more people are turning up for support.

I just received this message from friend:

Hi we came back last night quite shattered at the carnage and brutality of the police on peaceful protesters. It was hideous. We we’re down at parliament for 2 days and the media and their portrayal of what was happening was lies. Apparently police reinforcements arriving today. They attacked young people old people. Unbelievable
I cried all the way home yesterday in the car

In NZ, going to work and paying your taxes has become a rebellious act. Seriously it’s true. People are not scanning in or reporting contacts so that their businesses don’t get shut down. Having a job and going to work is rebelling against the government.

So true. The other amusing thing is that due to the ridiculous quarantine requirements which could see a couple having to isolate at home for 24 days, people are VERY reluctant to get tested. Gottatjink pointed out earlier in the thread that a large multi generational household might end up having to isolate fore a few months and very few people can either afford or have the appetite for nonsense like this. There have been appeals on the TV for people to do their duty and get tested, but still testing numbers fall. On this occasion they have really misread the room.
