South Africa's new political party kicks off today. Political infighting in the ANC led to the new breakaway party. Interestingly enough, Xhosas were traditionally ANC supporters, and now it looks like the ANC might be predominantly Zulu (judging by their leaders), and COPE (judging by their leaders) will target the Xhosas, and other minority groups.
I think this is a very positive turn of events. It's unhealthy when a party has a 2/3 majority. Now we just have to wait and see how many traditional ANC supporters will draw their crosses next to COPE in the 2009 elections.
