Yes, my employer subscribes to a blocking service to protect employees from evil knowledge and often the list contains ridiculous entries. In my case, I send an email to the local administrator and ask them to review the site and either provide me with an explanation or unblock it.
So far, most sites that they kept blocked were domains he previous owner neglected to renew which now contain a search blanket page to get pay per click advertising fees or social networking sites they fear will reduce productivity.
Half of my requests result in unblocking.
If the software is installed locally, there must be an exception list (I would hope).
Congrats for standing up for truth among your peers, Ark.
