I'm not sure if these two stories were already posted in SOTT, I haven't been able to read everything lately and the search feature doesn't work.

Experts find evidence of Bosnia pyramid
Structure believed one-third taller than Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza

VISOKO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - Researchers in Bosnia on Wednesday unearthed the first solid evidence that an ancient pyramid lies hidden beneath a massive hill - a series of geometrically cut stone slabs that could form part of the structure's sloping surface.

Archaeologists and other experts began digging into the sides of the mysterious hill near the central Bosnian town of Visoko last week. On Wednesday, the digging revealed large stone blocks on one side that the leader of the team believes are the outer layer of the pyramid.

"These are the first uncovered walls of the pyramid," said Semir Osmanagic, a Bosnian archaeologist who studied the pyramids of Latin America for 15 years.

Osmanagic said Wednesday's discovery significantly bolsters his theory that the 2,120-foot hill rising above the small town of Visoko is actually a step pyramid - the first found in Europe.

"We can see the surface is perfectly flat. This is the crucial material proof that we are talking pyramids," he said.

Osmanagic believes the structure itself is a colossal 722 feet high, or a third taller than Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza. The huge stone blocks discovered Wednesday appear to be cut in cubes and polished.

"It is so obvious that the top of the blocks, the surface is man made," Osmanagic said. He plans to continue the work throughout the summer, "after which the pyramid will be visible," he said.

Earlier research on the hill, known as Visocica, found that it has perfectly shaped, 45-degree slopes pointing toward the cardinal points, and a flat top. Under layers of dirt, workers discovered a paved entrance plateau, entrances to tunnels and large stone blocks.

Satellite photographs and thermal imaging revealed two other, smaller pyramid-shaped hills in the Visoko Valley.

Last week's excavations began with a team of rescue workers from a nearby coal mine being sent into a tunnel believed to be part of an underground network connecting the three pyramid-shaped hills.

They were followed by archeologists, geologists and other experts who emerged from the tunnel later to declare that it was certainly man-made.

The work will continue for about six months at the site just outside Visoko, about 20 miles northwest of the capital, Sarajevo. Two experts from Egypt are due to join the team in mid-May.

"It will be a very exciting archaeological spring and summer," Osmanagic said.

The Bosnia-Atlantis Connection April 27, 2006
by Mark Rose

Frenzied reporting of supposed pyramids in the Balkans ignores the truth and embraces the fantastic.

The world's oldest and largest pyramid found in Bosnia? It sounds incredible. The story has swept the media, from the Associated Press and the BBC, from papers and websites in the U.S. to those in India and Australia. Too bad that it is not a credible story at all. In fact, it is impossible. Who is the "archaeologist" who has taken the media for a ride? Why did the media not check the story more carefully? ARCHAEOLOGY will address these questions in depth in our next issue, July/August, but for now let's at least put the lie to the claims emanating from Visoko, the town 20 miles northwest of Sarajevo where the "Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun" is located.

Semir (Sam) Osmanagic, a Houston-based Bosnian-American contractor first saw the hills he believes to be pyramids last spring. He is now digging the largest of them and plans to continue the work through November, promoting it as the largest archaeological project underway in Europe. (His call for volunteers even slipped into the Archaeological Institute of America's online listing of excavation opportunities briefly before being yanked.) He claims it is one of five pyramids in the area (along with what he calls the pyramids of the Moon, Earth, and Dragon, plus another that hasn't been named in any account I've seen). These, he says, resemble the 1,800-year-old pyramids at Teotihuacan, just north of Mexico City. Osmanagic maintains that the largest is bigger than the pyramid of Khufu at Giza, and that the Bosnian pyramids date to 12,000 B.C.

Construction of massive pyramids in Bosnia at that period is not believable. Curtis Runnels, a specialist in the prehistory of Greece and the Balkans at Boston University, notes that "Between 27,000 and 12,000 years ago, the Balkans were locked in the last Glacial maximum, a period of very cold and dry climate with glaciers in some of the mountain ranges. The only occupants were Upper Paleolithic hunters and gatherers who left behind open-air camp sites and traces of occupation in caves. These remains consist of simple stone tools, hearths, and remains of animals and plants that were consumed for food. These people did not have the tools or skills to engage in the construction of monumental architecture."

But time and again the media reports say that Osmanagic has spent 15 years studying the pyramids of Latin America. What is not included in the reports is how Osmanagic interprets those structures and the cultures that built them. Had anyone bothered to investigate, they would have found rather bizarre notions in Osmanagic's book The World of the Maya (Gorgias Press, Euphrates imprint, 2005; $29.95). I had a look at the online edition of it (accessible on Osmanagic's "Alternative History" website at www.alternativnahistorija.com).

A couple of brief passages will convey the gist of Osmanagic's beliefs:

Ordinary watchmakers repair our watches and put them into accordance with Earthly time. It is my theory that the Maya should be considered watchmakers of the cosmos whose mission it is to adjust the Earthly frequency and bring it into accordance with the vibrations of our Sun. Once the Earth begins to vibrate in harmony with the Sun, information will be able to travel in both directions without limitation. And then we will be able to understand why all ancient peoples worshipped the Sun and dedicated their rituals to this. The Sun is the source of all life on this planet and the source of all information and knowledge. ...And with a frequency in harmony, the Earth will, via the Sun, be connected with the center of our Galaxy. These facts become exceptionally important when we realize that we are rapidly approaching December 2012, a date which the Maya have marked as the time of arrival of the Galactic Energy Cluster which will enlighten us.

The descendants of the Maya, the Lacandon Indians in Chiapas were discovered in the mid-twentieth century. This isolated community showed a surprising similarity to the Basque and Berber peoples (most probable descendants of the natives of Atlantis).... In the sacred Mayan book, the Popul Vuh, there are descriptions of cosmic travelers, the use of the compass, the fact that the Earth is round, and knowledge of the secrets of the universe.... The Mayan hieroglyphics tell us that their ancestors came from the Pleiades... first arriving at Atlantis where they created an advanced civilization.

Many cultures around the world, from India, Sumeria, Egypt, Peru, the Indians of North and Central America, the Inca and the Maya, call themselves the "Children of the Sun" or the "children of light." Their ancestors, the civilizations of Atlantis and Lemuria, erected the first temples on energy potent point of the Planet. Their most important function was to serve as a gateway to other worlds and dimensions.

And there it is. A self-described archaeologist, who believes the Maya and others are descended from Atlanteans who came from the Pleiades, has been accepted as a legitimate researcher by many news outlets. His ideas of early pyramids in Bosnia, which is simply not possible, has been accepted as a major discovery. How could this happen?

If you want to categorize this farce, it seems a standard-issue "amateur/maverick confounds establishment with great discovery" story, which no doubt makes it appealing to uncritical reporters looking for a big story. This kind of tale is a staple of the pseudoarchaeology or fantastic archaeology genre. And the term "pyramidiot" has been applied to those obsessed with pyramids and who offer strange interpretations of them on websites and in books and televsion programs. (See "Seductions of Pseudoarchaeology: Far Out Television").

Such stories infuriate serious scholars like Runnels. "These reports are irresponsible on the part of journalists," he says. "These claims are completely unsupported with any kind of factual evidence, such as artifacts or photographs of the alleged architectures. They have not been confirmed by archaeologists who have the training and competence to evaluate them. The person making the claims appears to have no training in archaeology and has not presented his finds in a way that would allow them to be scrutinized by trained experts. This is simply sensationalism and grandstanding and the journalists who have reported on these claims, without first fact-checking the stories with professional archaeologists, should be ashamed of themselves. People who believe these stories, especially when they are presented without evidence, are fools."

Some in the academic establishment have spoken out. They maintain that the kind of project Osmanagic is running is far worse than just misleading the gullible public. Following a report about Osmanagic in the London Times, Anthony Hardy, president European Association of Archaeologists, wrote the editors, "The situation of professional heritage management in Bosnia-Herzegovina is, since the Bosnian war, in a poor state, with a tiny number of people trying to do what they can to protect their rich heritage from looting and unmonitored or unauthorised development. It adds insult to injury when rich outsiders can come in and spend large sums pursuing their absurd theories (the construction of a colossal pyramid so large that it dwarfs even those of Egypt or Mesoamerica? 12,000 years ago?), in ways that most other countries would never countenance, instead of devoting their cash to the preservation of the endangered genuine sites and monuments in which Bosnia-Herzegovina abounds."

Others fear that Osmanagic's excavations will damage real sites (the hill he calls the "Pyramid of the Sun" is said to have medieval, Roman, and Illyrian remains on it). In one of the few critical accounts of the Bosnian pyramid story, which appeared in the Art Newspaper, the University of Sarejevo's Enver Imamovic, a former director of the National Museum in Sarjevo, is quoted as saying, "This is the equivalent of letting me, an archaeologist, perform surgery in hospitals."

There is public outcry within Bosnia, and an online petition that seeks to shut down Osmanagic's project. But he apparently has backers within the federal government and the Sarejevo city government. Whether he is allowed to continue or not is unresolved for now, and his website makes no mention of any controversy. And even when the mainstream media catch up and realize that the "Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun" is no such thing, it will have entered the annals of fantastic archaeology and will have a multitude of believers and defenders.

"If we connect a top of the pyramids (Sun, Moon, Dragon) by drawing a line. We can see that distance is equal. This lines are forming triangle. Sides of the triangle have equal lengths. Angles of this triangle are 60 degrees exactly (not any minute difference)."

"The results of the thermal imaging of the site indicates the existence of a pyramidal complex in the valley"

"Proof of manmade - A maze of tunnels that connect the individual pyramids across the complex."

"Local Bosnians have known for some time of a network of tunnels inside the Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, although the entrances to each pyramid have been shut off to the public since the '60s.

"When Bosnian explorer started to explore the site, he uncovered the gated entrances and investigated about 200m of a tunnel in the larger pyramid. What he found is that the tunnels are manmade, with straight-sided walls. He stopped his investigations when he reached a junction in the tunnel, where it branched off to a number of smaller tunnels, all at 90 degrees to each other."

I'm following this story closely. Since it's Bosnia, maybe it will not be possible to supress or cover everything up like in Egypt.

Te excavations on Pyramid of the Sun have started 20 days ago, and so far on all digging sites massive blocks of stone were uncovered weighing 5 to 30 tones. Few recent photos can be seen here, (the article is in Serbo-Croatian language)

Construction of massive pyramids in Bosnia at that period is not believable
I just love the attitude in the article you quoted, mark, where the writer essentially says "it CAN'T be there so I'm not going to look" :-)
Doesn't that just about sum up the problem?

I have known Sem Osmanagic personally for several years now and I can tell you that the guy, although not professional archaeologist, knows very well what a pyramid is, and how it looks like.

However, as it has been always the case, establishment (armchair) scientists were not only ignorant, they tried to stop excavations writing endless petitions and trying to discredit and stop Sem in any way and by any means.

According to the books, the pyramids should not have been there, however, there is something we call objective reality, which often does not have much in common with our consensus reality.

What is important now, they did not succeed and the excavations have started.

In October last year I have got from him first set of photos which I did not hesitate to publish on my website (Serbo-Croatian language) here:

http://www.galaksija.com/planeta/piramida/bosanska_piramida.htm

I have supported his project from the start, as I knew that he made some secret explorations before he published the book and has started the promotional campagna. As far as I know him, he is not a sort of a guy looking for publicity and trying to make a quick profit selling fog. However, he knew very well in advance what he was going to face. That is why he kept pushing to make the issue public as much as possible before asking for official permission for excavations as the public pressure was deciding factor to get the project on the way.

Anyway, I believe that by October this year we will know much more.

Now, Bosnians jokingly say that Egyptians actually were - refugees from Bosnia.

Best regards

"These people did not have the tools or skills to engage in the construction of monumental architecture" - I just laugh when I read such statements from our greatest scientists who know everything LOL
aren't we to measure "their skills" by the "monumental architecture" they left, and not the other way?

Leading geologists from Egypt have confirmed that the pyramidal structure discovered near the town of Visocica is indeed a pyramid. Dr Aly Abd Barakat (an expert on Egyptian pyramids) visited two areas of excavation - the north and east faces - at the structure, which is now known as the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. His conclusions about the blocks on the eastern face is that they are of a similar construction to those found
in Egyption pyramids - the blocks are handmade and polished; in Egypt, stones were polished to reflect the sunlight. Barakat also believes that the blocks, 4m x 1.5m in size, were brought here from a different location. Some of the blocks in the eastern face of the pyramid have been laid on top of each other, to a depth of four blocks. This gives some indication of the massive size of the ancient construction. After studying excavations on the north side of the pyramid, Barakat concludes that the blocks here are handmade and have been created using a mould to form the blocks, which consist of an ancient 'concrete'-like mix. He also noticed a white line some 0.5cm thick between the blocks, indicating a cement-like substance has been used to adhere the blocks together. A similar method has been seen in the construction of the Egyptian pyramids. Barakat went on to visit another excavation site located at the base of Pljesevica Hill, which is named the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon.

He concludes that the 'steps' that form the sides of this pyramid are made by human hands. Some 20m above this part of the excavations, he noticed a large number of blocks placed symetrically, proving they too are manmade.

It started, "they" are trying to convince people that the stones and everything is natural, not manmade.

European expert denies pyramid is manmade
he is reported to have spent just 15 minutes at the site, on his own - prior to announcing his conclusions in Sarajevo. He is reported as saying, "My opinion and the opinion of my colleagues is what we saw was entirely geological in nature." He added, "You'd be surprised how many natural stone formations can look as if they are man-made."
hopefully teams keep working and on next day surprise:
Tiles (15cmx15cmx5cm) are found on the few levels of the pyramid

Boy, some seem desperate to silence all this.

Lots of nice pictures of those "natural" piramides

Yet another undisputable piece of evidence proving the existence of colossal pyramids in Visoko valley has come from British scientist, Dr. Harry Oldfield. Dr. Oldfield and his associates visited the Bosnian pyramids from April 29-April 30, as guests of the Foundation. Using the most advanced equipment to record and measure energy fields inside and above pyramids, Dr. Oldfield surveyed Pyramids of the Sun, Moon, Love, as well as the tumulus formation in Gornja Vratnica.
This is the first time that a pyramid complex has ever been surveyed and measured using this type of technology!

Dr. Oldfield is a trained biologist, Honorary Doctor of Sciences, visiting professor at Grenada Unversity’s School of Medicine, and member of the Royal Society of Microscopic Research in Oxford. He is author of numerous scientific works and holds several patents in the field of Kirlian photography and its advancement through variation of energy fields. Dr. Oldfield has also researched archeological finds such as the megalith circle, Rollright Circle in Britain’s Oxfordshire.

Dr. Oldfield has patented a computer program and camera designed to record the changing and oscillating energy patterns emitted by all living things, crystals, as well as ancient megalithic structures. He named this method Electro-Scanning, as it follows sonic, radio, and light frequencies which emanate from subjects of analysis. His equipment measures changes in energy fields and displays them three-dimensionally.

Dr. Oldfield analyzed the Bosnian pyramids with several cameras and the results proved to be very surprising and unexpected. A number of anomalies were registered, the existence of which could not be attributed to naturally-occurring phenomena.

If one records ordinary hills with this equipment, there are no high-energy fields nor the genesis of additional energy. Above such natural hills, one finds horizontal, fixed, and homogenous energy fields.

Dr. Oldfield first examined the north face of the Pyramid of the Sun from a distance of 1 kilometer. The results of this analysis are as follows: Inside the pyramid, below and above the pine forest on the north face, there is a steady genesis of energy, which is in direct contrast to naturally occurring hills. In the past several decades, it has been proven that precisely stone pyramids do indeed generate specific types of energy.

Furthermore, video footage clearly shows that the newly-generated energy accumulates, and is discharged through the tip of the Pyramid of the Sun.

Additional proof of the pyramids’ existence comes from the area above the pyramid. Namely, the energy fields are vertical, as opposed to horizontal, which is the case with naturally occurring hills.
In contrast to natural phenomena where the energy fields are fixed, these electromagnetic fields are pulsating and non-homogenous.

In other words, the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is in fact acting like a giant energy accumulator which continually emits large quantities of energy. It is the proverbial perpetuum mobile, which got its start in the distant past and continues its activity without respite.

The Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon, along with its surroundings, was surveyed from a parking space on the Visoko-Kiseljak road. The primary recorded anomaly of this analysis is the pulsating, non-homogenous energy field. Especially interesting is the genesis of an electromagnetic cloud between the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon and the Earth Temple. This speaks to their connection and synergy as two connected objects.
The Pyramid of Love was surveyed from the foot of the Pyramid of the Moon. The recording shows the south and east face of the Pyramid of Love, as well as the south and east faces of the Pyramid of the Sun. What stands out is the continuous and uninterrupted connection of energy flow between these two pyramids. Specifically, a clear and steady energy line follows the Pyramid of Love, ascends to its top, descends to the other side, and directly connects to the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. This, in effect, creates a pulsating energy bridge between these two pyramids.

The Gornja Vratnica archeological site, with a distance of 4 kilometers from the Pyramid of the Sun, also reveals strong anomalies in energy fields. As is known, digging on the Toprakalija tumulus formation last year revealed the existence of evenly-shaped stone blocks permeated by a wave-like pattern identical to that found in the Pyramid of the Moon, as well as megalith blocks that make up the outside of the tumulus formation. This year, digs continue on the neighboring Dolovi tumulus formation and already show the existence of several levels of paved paths.

Dr. Oldfield’s survey of the Toprakalije tumulus formation reveals the genesis of energy inside the tumulus formation, as well as singular flashes of energy discharge emitted from the very top of Toprakalije formation. We remind that last year’s analysis found compasses to be useless at this location. Furthermore, German geological experts uncovered the existence of underground passages and stone steps at this same location.
