Potential Food and Energy Shortage Across the World

I live in Texas and I noticed that there are no mosquitoes. Every year, we have a vast amount of flies and mosquitoes, and I am very aware because I like sitting outside in the backyard, but at this time of the year it's almost impossible to sit out early in the morning and later in the day without being massacred by them bloodsuckers. Well, not this year. I talked to mom about it, she lives in Venezuela, and she said that she also noticed that she does not need to use the mosquito repellent because "they are gone, even though it's rainy season." Today I was thinking of how not having mosquitoes/flies affect the natural balance of the food chain. Maybe these are isolated instances, but I tell you, there are no mosquitos around here. Is it another more subtle tactic to mess with our food supply?

It might soon be time to reduce our bank accounts balance:

I have been having the same feeling a couple of weeks now. There is always an option to put the cash back in to the bank account in case of traveling or exchange it to other currency if it is necessary. I have a feeling the systems cannot be trusted after I experienced how certain social software systems here in Norway can be down over the whole country due to server glitch or something like that. I thought oh what if banks would say something like this?

We have plenty of mosquitos here in Spain! Weather is very dry and no rain scheduled July and August, but we have swimming pool and plant pots to breed those mosquitos!! :-)

Vladimir Putin was warning about food shortages in March
This speech, from March 16, 2022 by Vladimir Putin is historic, at least as far as developments with food shortages are concerned. Below is one part, since I could not find the speech mentioned in this thread. The speech is attached, if some countries can't access the link above. If you can access the Kremlin website, there is also a video.
Clearly, Kiev’s Western patrons are just pushing them to continue the bloodshed. They incessantly supply Kiev with weapons and intelligence, as well as other types of assistance, including military advisers and mercenaries.

They are using economic, financial, trade and other sanctions against Russia as weapons, but these sanctions have backfired in Europe and in the United States where prices of gasoline, energy and food have shot up, and jobs in the industries associated with the Russian market have been cut. So, do not shift the blame on us and do not accuse our country of everything that goes wrong in your countries.
Putin said this in March and only now, months later, are red light allowed to come on in some EU countries.
I want ordinary Western people hear me, too. You are being persistently told that your current difficulties are the result of Russia’s hostile actions and that you have to pay for the efforts to counter the alleged Russian threat from your own pockets. All of that is a lie.

The truth is that the problems faced by millions of people in the West are the result of many years of actions by the ruling elite of your respective countries, their mistakes, and short-sighted policies and ambitions. This elite is not thinking about how to improve the lives of their citizens in Western countries. They are obsessed with their own self-serving interests and super profits.5.9
In another more recent speech, Putin said that during Covid the US and EU issued trillions (5.9 trillion USD and 2.5 trillion Euro respectively). He probably knew about this short-sighted policy already then. Next, Putin mentions the consequence for the world of the western policies.
This can be seen in the data provided by international organisations, which clearly show that social problems, even in the leading Western countries, have exacerbated in recent years, that inequality and the gap between the rich and the poor is widening, and racial and ethnic conflicts are making themselves felt. The myth of the Western welfare society, the so-called golden billion, is crumbling.

To reiterate, the whole planet is now paying for the West’s ambitions and the West’s attempts to maintain its elusive dominance by any means possible.
Any means possible is not exemplified, but it could include bioweapon research, lockdown measures, various forms of subtle sabotage directed at their own citizens, vaccination push using harmful vaccines, and now Russia sanctions, and before that financial terrorism, wars in countries on trumped-up charges for the sake of resources or support for coup d'état in many countries.
Imposing sanctions is the logical continuation and the distillation of the irresponsible and short-sighted policy of the US and EU countries’ governments and central banks. They themselves have driven up global inflation in recent years, and with their actions caused rising global poverty and greater inequality across the world. The question now arises – who will answer for the millions who will die of hunger in the world’s poorest countries due to growing food shortages?
Who will answer for the millions who will die of hunger? One guess is that the western elites will not blame themselves or their policies, but how will the citizens react? And will we have a situation where the elites in Europe will get backup not only from their state apparatus and ardent ideological supporters, but also from the US, just as Zelensky and the Ukrainian nationalists get in Kiev?
Putin continues:
Let me reiterate, the global economy and global trade as a whole have suffered a major blow, as did trust in the US dollar as the main reserve currency.

The illegitimate freezing of some of the currency reserves of the Bank of Russia marks the end of the reliability of so-called first-class assets. In fact, the US and the EU have defaulted on their obligations to Russia. Now everybody knows that financial reserves can simply be stolen. And many countries in the immediate future may begin – I am sure this is what will happen – to convert their paper and digital assets into real reserves of raw materials, land, food, gold and other real assets which will only result in more shortages in these markets.
When money in the bank lose value due to rapid inflation, then people will try to make the best of them while they still have value.

Example of food shortage
During the 1990ies, in some areas of the former USSR, if one had money one would buy a bag of something, be it rice, sugar, or yellow peas. It was not unusual to walk a few kilometres to a shop where rumours told they had what one needed, while one on the way passed many shops that were out of stock. If one was lucky, and the item had not been sold out between the time of the received rumour and the time of arrival in the store, then one could walk back home dragging a bag of 50 kg strapped to a little two wheeled trolley, or take a taxi or use a car. Few households needed 50 kg all of a sudden, but they at least had food for some time, just as converting money to food, was an investment before the money lost value due to inflation.

New High-protein snacks in Canada...
Nicole Kidman eating bugs and worms on camera. Obviously, there's an effort to normalize the idea. I mean - Nicole Kidman is having them? Give me a bowl! Which means that the elite is quite certain that food will be lacking in the rather near future.

Of course, when they got the masses eating bugs, they won't be having worm burgers themselves. The best and finest will keep to their steaks! Just as when they say 'you'll own nothing and be happy', they don't mean they'll be sacrificing any of their own wealth.

Nicole Kidman, honey... read the damn fine print.

Well Nicole Kidman should perhaps read this a bit more in depths... It outlines a parasitological evaluation of edible insects and their role in the transmission of parasitic diseases to humans and animals.

This makes me wonder even more about depopulation and the outrage over use of ivermectin.

In related news, earlier this year several articles popped up briefly on the News App claiming that we need to genetically modify the insects we decide to farm for our food.
It is like watching a stupid-hyper-loop on fast forward.:headbash:

It is not comforting at all, the loose labeling on our foods.

Trudeau announced today the implementation of clean energy for the Maritimes. He states that it will create jobs, better and cleaner energy without CO2 emissions and that every household in the East will be equipped with batteries.

Naturally, the Canadian Infrastructure Bank will be involved.
This quote from MLAs who disprove of his plans: "Liberal MPs strongly support the $35-billion Crown corporation created by the Trudeau government in 2017. CIB core mandate to build large projects with private sector involvement is inherently problematic. It raises serious questions about whether projects are being delivered in the public interest, and saddles Canadians with higher long-term costs as they repay the investments of wealthy financiers.”

A lot of controversy surrounding the CIB.

Here is the link to the road-map:
According to the report regarding the use of coal to create electricity: since 2005, Atlantic Provinces have reduced their emissions more than any other province or territory in Canada, achieving an economy-wide 38 percent reduction in New Brunswick, a 30 percent reduction in Nova Scotia, and a 14 percent reduction in Prince Edward Island. With regard to the production of electricity, New Brunswick has reduced its emissions by 64 percent, Nova Scotia has reduced its emissions by 38 percent from 2005 levels, and 99 percent of the electricity generated in Prince Edward Island is from renewable sources.

COAL Key facts

  • Coal is a key ingredient in the manufacturing of steel and cement
  • Canada's coal production in 2019 was 57 million tonnes
  • Canada exported 37 million tonnes of coal and imported 8 million tonnes in 2019
  • Canada is the world's fourth largest exporter of metallurgical coal, after Australia, the United States and Russia
  • Alberta and British Columbia produced 83% of Canada's coal
  • In 2018, the Government of Canada announced final regulations to phase-out traditional coal-fired electricity by 2030.
  • The Canadian coal industry produces coal for use in metallurgical applications (e.g., coking or steelmaking) and thermal applications (e.g., electricity generation).
  • In 2019, Canada exported 36.5 million tonnes of coal around the world and imported nearly 8 million tonnes of coal, mostly from the United States. Exports to the United States accounted for 2% of Canadian coal exports, and represented 12% of total United States coal imports.
Canada's exports are primarily metallurgical coal (95% in 2019).

  • Global coal demand by sector, 2019 (p)

According to the official Gov of Canada site on Coal it states: "with the phasing out of coal-fired electricity by the Government of Canada, energy produced by coal will be eliminated by 2030. That said, coal will continue to be used for metallurgical processes."

And now this gov presumes to stop the production of coal from one of our most disadvantaged area where poverty and unemployment is rampant.

  • Dear people,
How can a soi-disant intelligent government finalize a project on experimental ground of so called renewable energy on provinces that are considered "have not", who rely so heavily on a resource that will be reduced, thus depleting job availability and profess that this new strategy will actually "create" new jobs and new opportunity??????
Now imagine yourself living on an isolated area of only 300 people or less, a very large storm is coming in the middle of winter, the so-called wind turbine has broken off its propeller, the wind is too strong, too much snow covering the ground, people are isolated and their "renewable electricity" is no longer providing for several days or even weeks until a "repair specialist" comes to their rescue.......
You get the picture. This government claims that jobs will be created and in the spirit of reconciliation "strong partnerships with Indigenous peoples will be critical to Atlantic Canada’s clean power future". All this means is that most jobs will be awarded to one side of the equations and not the other. All I see in this is chaos, destruction, more poverty, rule breaking, inequity, bias, and using our people as guinea pigs (both Aboriginal and diversified cultures living in the same area). The biggest question is: How can their MLAs accept this experiment? I'm astounded at the unfairness and the lies re global warming to achieve such a scheme! Remember, he has chosen flexing his muscles on "HAVE NOT" provinces first, those who have very little value in his book.

Davos Elite Plan to "Fundamentally Change the Way Food Is Produced and Consumed"

I recently watched this very informative, data-based video, a 2-hour-long soil science masterclass presented by Dr. Elaine Ingham. It is also very entertaining, kinda like a stand-up comedy routine. The lady has spunk!
Elaine Ingham is an American microbiologist and soil biology researcher and founder of Soil Foodweb Inc. She is known as a leader in soil microbiology and research of the soil food web,[1][2] She is an author of the USDA's Soil Biology Primer.

In this video, you can get an in-depth look at the key concepts of soil biochemistry. What does healthy soil look like in terms of the specific composition of aerobic bacteria, fungi, paramecia, micro-arthropods, up to apex predators like beetles, voles and birds? What does the chemical fertilizer approach to agriculture leave out when we consider soil biology and ecology? Is the 'N-P-K' formula all that's needed for growing healthy plants? What are exudates, and how does a plant generate conditions favourable to itself? What is the importance of soil microbiota in maintaining soil structure that facilitates the movement of water and oxygen into the soil? And in all of this, there are intimations of the role of human beings, as apex predators, who have the chance to act as stewards to all of these tiny micro-relationships. Fascinating stuff, to dig deeper into all of the informational complexity that results in food on the table.

If you watch to the end, there are some great case studies cited, such as a very jaw-dropping account of a sick cattle herd. Unfortunately, it is literally jaw-dropping. The cattle had developed a type of facial eczema that progressed to their jaws rotting off. Dr. Ingham was called in. Through treating 50% of the farmer's pasture with inoculations of specific micro-organisms (compost tea), life returned to the soil, the facial eczema cleared up, and milk production increased relative to the other half of the herd. Again - fascinating stuff!

With a better understanding of the life science of soil, I can get a better sense of what's at stake with the fertilizer shortages worldwide, and also the policies targeting farmers in the Netherlands, or what happened in Sri Lanka as they attempted an overnight transition to organic.

A national transition to a science-based regenerative organic agriculture for any country would need to have a sort of Manhattan Project for farmers, I think - a careful, science-based, prepared-in-advance shift in measured stages, incorporated across the entire agricultural sector... and not an externally-imposed ESG measure, which seems designed to simply destroy what exists on an ideological basis, in the name of 'saving the planet'.

Thanks for posting this. Imagine how much we could learn and how enjoyable it would be to heal this planet if the PTB were gone, I think about it a lot.

There’s simply no way humans can improve on certain processes in Nature. The dung beetle is one of my favorites, it buries waste, breaking the cycle of pathogens, aerates and turns over the soil in the process, creates channels for water filtration and as far as I can tell has absolutely zero negative impacts. It’s the ultimate STO insect.

You might like this story, it’s a quick look at what active land rehabilitation can do.

"Potential Food and Energy Shortages Across the World" could morph into a new thread of "Widespread" instead of "Potential", in fact the image in the previous post showed that close to 900 million already live without sufficient food, so there is an element of situational context in which one finds oneself. While food is being wasted in one place, there is not enough in another, or there is no money to buy the food that is available.

Since nitrogen has become a subject due to protests in the Netherlands, below are some paragraphs that cover the importance of nitrogen in agriculture and the conditions, the farmers in the Netherlands face, as well as other motives the Dutch government may have.

The legislation in the Netherlands is connected to the EU nitrates directive:

They have this image:

Why nitrogen is important for plants
Proteins are made of chains of amino acids and for every amino acid, there is an amino group consisting of one nitrogen atom and two hydrogen atoms, see illustrations on this Wiki on proteinogenic amino acids, where you will also find that a few amino acids have two nitrogen atoms in their molecular structure.

Although nitrogen makes up about 78 % of the air as molecules of N2, it is not accessible to plants as it is, because the triple bond between the two nitrogen atoms is very strong. For plants to make absorb nitrogen, the triple nitrogen bond needs to be broken, and nitrogen salts need to be formed, this can happen both naturally or through synthetic processes or a combination of both. Nitrogen fertilizers, typically use anhydrous ammonia, NH3 as a foundation. When anhydrous ammonia is applied directly, there are bacteria that help to convert it to salts.

Too little or too much nitrogen?
The fertilizer industry association has this chart, which is similar to the previous one from the EU, but is taken more from the perspective of the crop production.
View attachment 60957
Another chart shows what happens to the soil and the environment depending on the amount used. [NUE stands for Nitrogen Use Efficiency].
View attachment 60958
I don't know where the EU has set the limit in relation to the above model, but one can imagine a situation, where it would be economically viable to use more nitrogen than the regulation would permit due to the alleged concern for the environment.

The EU directive is the same, but the local conditions are not.
There are differences in soil quality, climatic conditions including temperature, and rainfall as well as the distance to the purchasers of the farm produce, and not least the price of the land. Here is a map that shows the average prices of farmland in Europe a few years ago.

View attachment 60959
Though the text above is not particularly readable, the Netherlands can boast the highest price, with more than 60,000 Euros for one hectare of land. For a Dutch farmer, high yields are very important, otherwise it is hard to make a profitable business, especially if you had to borrow money to buy your farm.
This image makes the picture even more clear:
View attachment 60965

The way the legislation is implemented varies between EU member states
View attachment 60968
The above is from Nitrogen Surplus—A Unified Indicator for Water Pollution in Europe The conclusion in their abstract is:

The above article is from 2020. There appears to be some variability as to how the measurements of nitrogen are done, and limits set in different EU countries.

The current situation, reducing nitrogen for new reasons
While the old policy push dating back to the 1990ies was argued from the concern for water quality, there is now also a climate change agenda to reduce nitrogen consumption, which may explain why they now speak of "nitrogen emissions", also because a small part of the nitrogen fertilizer applied to the soil decomposes to green house gasses.

In Dutch to cut nitrogen levels by up to 70% in many areas; Tractor protest set for June 22

A comment from Dr. Mercola
In the following article, there was: Dutch farmers rise up against food system 'reset' -- Sott.net

While the way the Dutch government goes about their policies does not create immediate food shortage, their policies will help to make sure they will happen.

More comments and opinions on the situation for the farmers in the Netherlands
From the Independent Sentinel, there was this perspective:

An Expose News has:

It would not surprise if the WEF has similar connections to government officials in other countries.

More on the history of the Global Coordinating Secretariat (GCS)
Invest in Holland has:

The Netherlands produce food that is also consumed in other EU countries, therefore reduction of the agricultural output in the Netherlands will have knock-on effects elsewhere.

For those in the position to grow their own, urine is a good substitute. In fact I wonder how shortage of nitrogen fertilisers can be claimed since I doubt there's a shortage of urine in the world!

Urine is chock full of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, which are the nutrients plants need to thrive—and the main ingredients in common mineral fertilizers. There is, of course, a steady supply of this man-made plant food: an adult on a typical Western diet urinates about 500 liters a year, enough to fill three standard bathtubs. Gee Whiz: Human Urine Is Shown to Be an Effective Agricultural Fertilizer.

For protection against harmful pathogens it is suggested that using urine from those who are ill, have urinary tract infections or who are on medication be avoided. Otherwise storing urine in a sealed container for two weeks before use allows ammonia in the sample to kill other harmful pathogens that might be present.

Here's another study conducted in Uganda.
