Just to put the ball down. Yes it's forbidden to swim in lakes, but few miles down the stream you are in fact out of National park boundary and you can enjoy swimming and bathing in small town of Slunj. That's the same water. Always cool even in Summer and perfectly clean.

You are making a very good case here with those photos. I'm already having lake-swimming withdrawal symptoms. Mental note taken: "Must go find a beautiful nature environment like that and swim in cold water!"

Hi, I went to see the lakes couple of years ago when I was travelling around Europe. It was one hell of an experience. I think if you ever get the chance you should definitely go there. :)
