For those who are not aware of it, there is a new documentary called "Pet Fooled",and it is about the pet food industry, and how its products are far from being healthy and beneficial for your pets. Here's the trailer and several other interesting and relevant videos. I haven't seen it myself, but listened to the interview with the creator, and it looks very interesting! At the moment you can only purchase the documentary, but perhaps at one point it will be available for free.

There is a Finish university study which will address accusations of raw fed dogs and cats being responsible for disease in humans.
Would those who feed raw kindly fill in this questionnaire. It takes less than 5 min. Thank you!

For the past couple of days RT has been showing the full version of "Pet Fooled". I haven't been able to find RT's version, but here's the full documentary with French subtitles. The documentary is very interesting and worrying!

Another good reason not to eat commercial dry foods:

At least 330 cats died from a mysterious illness investigators believe could be linked to recalled cat food, according to the Royal Veterinary College (RVC).

Vets across the UK have treated at least 528 cases of feline pancytopenia.

The illness causes the number of red and white blood cells and platelets in cats to rapidly decrease, causing serious illness which can often be fatal.

The RVC said that of the cases treated at their own hospitals or by vets, there was a 63.5% mortality rate.

The true number of cases could be higher,
it warned, because many cats who become ill may not be taken to a veterinary practice.

And another very good reason not to eat commercial pet food.

In Portugal, Bobi the world's oldest dog just celebrated his 31st birthday, theguardian.com reported.

Life expectancy for his breed Rafeiro do Alentejo is typically between 12 and 14 years.
His owner Leonel Costa puts Bobi’s longevity down to his "calm, peaceful environment … far from the cities."

And, according to Costa, Bobi has always eaten human food.

"What we ate … he ate too …
Between a can of animal food or a piece of meat, Bobi doesn’t hesitate and chooses our food,” said Costa.

Just the same with my dear departed Yorkie, Dinky. He ate beef, hamburgers and garden peas all his 14 years with us. He always turned his nose up at dog food, so we quickly changed our home regime to accommodate his tastes. As a kid I always used to refer to him as my younger brother! Really miss him, he was always so much fun to be around.
