Mysterious monolith found in Utah Desert

Looks like another one appeared in Georgia briefly:
"Dozens of hikers gathered around to wonder at the object, discuss where it may have come from and who may have created it.

Among the questions of those at the location was whether the obelisk was the same as the one that disappeared from Utah. According to reports, the obelisk in Utah was 9-feet tall, and would be a similar height to the object in Atascadero. However, the construction of the Atascadero obelisk appeared to be slightly slimmer in width than the Utah version.

Obelisk frenzy reached Romania as well, with a more distressed copy installed on Batcas Doamnei Hill in the city of Piatra Neamt.

There was no visible evidence of how the object got to the top of the mountain, but daily hiker Ray Johnson said it was not there on Tuesday."

Removed by "vandals" who replaced it with a cross:
" Overnight, in the early hours of Thursday, a group of young men traveled from Orange County to remove the object in the name of “Christ is king.” Among the audio from the late night video, the person speaking called the object an “alien obelisk” and said “We don’t want illegal aliens from Mexico, or outer space.”

The video showed at least three young men pushing over the obelisk until it fell to the ground. The area has been investigated by the City of Atascadero."

Then the city makes a statement:
"As of early this morning, the Monolith had disappeared. The City has received the actual video that has surfaced on social media showing a group of men from out of the area removing the Monolith and replacing it with a plywood cross. The video shows them replacing the structure and talking amongst themselves.

“We are upset that these young men felt the need to drive 5 hours to come into our community and vandalize the Monolith. The Monolith was something unique and fun in an otherwise stressful time,” said Mayor Heather Moreno.

Mysterious metal column found in Frisian nature reserve

After the discovery of mysterious metal columns in the United States and Romania, another metal column was found this morning in nature, this time in Friesland.

Walkers saw the object standing in a nature reserve near Oudehorne. It is not clear who placed the column there. It is also not known how long the column has been there.

According to Omrop Fryslân** [in Dutch] there are no footsteps at the pillar. Also, the object at Oudehorne is not shiny like the earlier found pillars. The regional broadcaster writes that it may be a New Year's Eve stunt.

Mysterious objects

Earlier, the mysterious objects were discovered in Romania and the American states of Utah and California. The metal column in California, which was discovered on Wednesday, had disappeared a day later.

The metal column in Romania, which was discovered at the end of November, also disappeared on Tuesday. The object in Utah was suddenly removed last weekend.

There is speculation about the purpose of the people who placed the columns. According to some, it would be a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey, a film by Stanley Kubrick from 1968. In it, extraterrestrials leave behind black monoliths.

I'm surprised at how much ruckus this piece has caused. Some crazy assumptions that people are coming up with are just too much. I think it highlights the level of hysteria out there.

Jeep mentioned the avant-garde 'artist', John MacCracken; some of his "monoliths" look very similar to the new ones:

monolith....PNG

Searching more about the guy, I found this:

The artist’s son, Patrick McCracken, remains completely puzzled by the monolith. But when he heard the news, he thought back to an evening in May 2002, when his father was living in Medanales, N.M., in a small adobe house overlooking a mesa. “We were standing outside looking at the stars and he said something to the effect of that he would like to leave his artwork in remote places to be discovered later,” he recalled in a phone interview.

And...

"... I thought it was something that he would do,” he said. “He was inspired by the idea of alien visitors leaving objects that resembled his work, or that his work resembled. This discovery of a monolith piece — that’s very much in line with his artistic vision.”

A photographer who lives in San Francisco, the younger McCracken added: “He wasn’t your average sort of dad. He believed in advance alien races that were able to visit earth. To his mind, these aliens had been visiting Earth for a very long time and they were not malevolent. They wanted to help humanity to get past this time of our evolution where all we do is fight each other.” [space brothers and whatnot...]

__Did John McCracken Make That Monolith in Utah?

So maybe something staged by the same MacCracken with a lot of anticipation (he passed on 2011), or a sort of tribute by someone else? And then lots of copy cats due to the media attention?

Something's been niggling about the rock structure in that image and the reference to 'artist' finally clicked - it reminded me of a picture from the 'original' WingMakers site, specifically the supposed Ancient Arrow Project;

And anyone familiar with the infamous back-story and extensive mythology may also be aware that both the purported author and website have been dormant for the last 4 or 5 years. Which is a shame actually because the books are very clever imo, anyway out of curiosity had a look and was surprised to see that in August it was updated;

With an interestingly timed assertion that 2 more 'zones' containing 'artifacts' had been discovered - Zyanya (China), Aadhya (Australia) - though it looks like only paintings have been shared at this point.

Hmmm... 🤔

Mysterious monolith appears near ancient site in Turkey

A mysterious metallic monolith has turned up in Turkey’s southeastern province of Şanlıurfa.

The three-meter-high metal slab, resembling mysterious monoliths that have been popping up in several locations around the world, has now appeared near Göbeklitepe, a 12,000-year-old temple which recently became a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Security forces were called to the scene as curious locals sought to get a look at the monolith, which resembles a mysterious object which appeared in a desert in Utah in the U.S. and Romania last year, but then vanished.

Gendarmerie troops cordoned off the area, an empty land, and brought in experts from the local culture and tourism authorities.

Experts said the inscription on the slab, which was only 45 centimeters wide, was in the ancient Göktürk alphabet and meant “Look at the sky if you want to see the Moon.”

Fuat Demirdil, the owner of the land, told reporters that he noticed a metal block stuck in the ground when he came to his field and informed gendarmerie units.

Explaining that they were very anxious as the people of the neighborhood, Demirdil wanted the metal block to be removed from his land and to determine by whom it was brought to the area.

An investigation is underway to find out who installed the metal slab in the middle of the empty land.

Speaking to the reporters, Şanlıurfa Governor Abdullah Erdin said that the experts’ investigation continues.

“There is no information I can give you right now. The experts who are competent are doing their examination. An explanation will be made about what the object is in a short time,” Erdin said.

Similar alien-looking pillars were spotted in a Utah desert in the U.S. and later in Romania about three months ago.

They both disappeared after generating much excitement internationally among science-fiction fans, hearkening to Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film, “2001: A Space Odyssey,” based on a novel by Arthur C. Clarke.

In the Kubrick movie, an alien monolith is a recurring symbol that appears to play a role in the development of human evolution.

The origin of other monoliths remains unknown while rumors on social media claim they might be part of a marketing campaign for a show on a streaming service.

That would have to be the least profound and insightful inscription I've ever read about anything .

The consistent thing with these 'monoliths' is the three-sided shape - they all seem to be have 3 long sides. (side note: De ja vu while writing this). But without further explanatory information, they both serve the same purpose and do not deserve the attention they are receiving.
