Logged in Time Counter is it Accurate?

I was wondering if the time counter is working properly?

There are times when I am on the forum for several hours and it seems to just count it as a few minutes, or not at all. It seems also that when I am not constantly using my cursor to page down or move around that it also stops counting (though at other times that doesn't seem to matter).

I also notice a small face icon above the word minutes but am not sure what that does either. It seems to be connected with "Additional Options."

For example since I signed on the forum to write this blog the time hasn't changed at all and I would estimate that I have been on here now maybe 15 minutes.

Could someone please help me with this? Thanks ahead of time!
 
The "small face" above the timer is a button you can use to minimize the header when you are logged in. Not sure about the accuracy of the timer though.

Thank you Pinkerton for that detail. It solved a lil' of what I was seeking. :)
