The Force is Strong With This One
I've wanted to post this idea for a long time and today I decided to get it out there.
I'm facinated by the presentation of Golden age / 'fourth density' type of ideas in the movies. I'm a big time fan of Mythology, fairy tales and the like. After absorbing Laura's thoughts on Mythification of the lost knowledge from the Golden Age, and that I've become more 'Aware' over the last few years I've begun to re examine the older fairy tale classics in a new light, including some of these new style Sci-Fi flicks appearing all over cable like Fringe, Flash Forward and even The Ghost Whisperer.
Since I have a Teen daughter, I get exposed to movies that the common person may not. Case in point;
Enchanted (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461770/) - a 'cartoon' character is sent to present day reality by the 'Evil Queen' very reminicent of 'Maleficent' from Sleeping Beauty'. A Teen chick flick to the highest degree, but the concept of the movie kept me watching. It has magic and shape shifting in it and a DRAGON!
Harry Potter franchise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter) Is not the entire concept of magic a golden age idea? A fourth density thing? My household has reading this series (me included) over and over, not to mention the number of times we have watched the movies. Hasn't the series out sold the christian bible? So much of this 'thing' occurs in myths and tales from every culture globally that it can not be the work of the imagination. EVERYBODY is facinated by this concept, or is it a deep seated memory of the lost time? The 3D law of conservation of energy aside, what type of being would be capable of performing such feats? Wouldn't it have to be a multddimentional being / someone that could manipulate large volumes of energy and 'matter'. The mind reels at the possibilites.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender) Did I write that I have a Teen daughter? Well this show is one that her and her BFF NEVER MISS. I have DVD's of this series. Maybe it's creeping that old Dad watches a kids cartoon, but if you are a fan of fourth density and the Golden Age then it's worth checking out. the plot is kinda juvenile, but the ideas behind the characters abilities are facinating.
The Golden Compass - I will deviate slightly for this film. This was reviewed in an older thread (http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=10463.0) I'm not a fan of the film, quite the opposite when compared to the book. Many concepts of the book are facinating to me; the daemon idea and the idea of 'dust' falling to earth and a bridge to another world that can only be reached by the using the enrgy from a 'being' (etheric energy anyone?)
