Beautiful Resonating Female Vocal Tracks

The Force is Strong With This One
I found a few of these while exploring similar genres.

These tracks had resonated with me and triggered an increasingly intense feeling of something similar to nostalgia, but feels like it's more than just the music. It vibrates something, if that makes any sense... Was just wondering if anyone else feels the same way ? Give them a listen :

Celtic Ballad - Riversong

:)

I found the lyrics for Riversong. Fascinating lyrics ..

Far above into the sky,
The Gods' tears fall from their eyes.
The Angels fall. Demons crawl.

For in the night we fight for you
And in our hearts we follow the truth
And as the battle rages on and on
Our warcries echo far and strong

The old war calls a somber song,
With shield and sword you must go on.
Ravens soar. Dragons roar.

For in the night we fight for you
And in our hearts we follow the truth
And as the battle rages on and on
Our war cries echo far and strong

A song is enough
To change the world
And make it alright in the end
I'll sing it for you
To mend your lost soul
And make it alright in the end

Hi Mildain.

Do you know what this kind of singing is called? What style it is??

I would really like to know. I have been trying to find the words to describe it for long while now so I can research it and learn this style myself.

Usually they have these types of songs playing with the credits at the end of an epic movie, something like Avatar.

I find them very moving and very healing.

Thank you.

Hi Kindle,

If I'm not completely mistaken, this type of singing is called close harmony singing aka barbershop style vocalizing.

One of my favorite female vocalist with a beautiful resonating voice, Loreena McKennitt.

I have always found amazing grace sung by a great female voice to be just amazing. Perhaps there is resonation with the song itself. I have recently learned the story behind it. Written by an ex slave owner who changed his ways.

Nancy, you are dead-on suggesting Loreena McKennitt!! When I first heard her on the radio she wasn't identified as the artist. I don't remember how I eventually got her name. This was years ago, too much brain fade.

Thank you Palinurus, I appreciate your help :)

Here is a bubbly lady named Victoria Vives Kuonge. I find her chanting very healing and her personality so vibrant.

Hi! - OK - first it depends on what you mean by resonating. Now I suppose you mean their vocals resonate some kind of agreement in your soul - or that it triggers some feeling in you. Then the question arises - what feelings? And are these deep feelings an amplification of the trance/hypnosis we are under or are they messages from 'on high'? In my book, the tone of the singer has to equivocate with the lyrical content which I enjoy all the more if it communicates some experience or wisdom that helps me grow and learn.

But I don't like spells being cast over me.

One thing to also note is all the heavy syrupy saturation of delay/reverb effects on most of these tracks which can make a fish monger sound ethereal and otherworldly. So, I try to listen beyond that.

Now for the subjective part:

1 - Loreena McKennitt is certainly gifted. But the lyrics on Mummers Dance can definitely have a dark occult interpretation (as well as the visuals in the video). Personally, that is red flag for me and I do not wish to resonate with that although her voice is certainly beguiling. Lash me to the mast and I will listen and enjoy it.

2-Claudia Mackula sounds like a young pup in love with her own voice - I get narcism from her. I don't resonate.

3-as for Candace Knight - well, listen to her version next to Baez back to back - kind of like Beef Wellington vs. Chicken Fried Steak - yeah, they are both meat...but... it's a depth thing. Baez lived that song and it came from deep within her soul - Candace... is just copying it.

Not to be totally and completely negative, I will offer up a couple:

Joni Mitchell "Songs to Aging Children Come" - outrageous genuine harmonies (not the product of an echoplex) as well as deep reflections on life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qli5LGnJ2r0

And for the Celtic thing with a dose of esoteric inner soul searching: Connie Dover "The Wishing Well"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPROdiVxwa8
(warning - this song is sad as hell)

I guess I should explain - I am a musician too, and a hyper critical Virgo to boot. Am I splitting hairs? Too harsh? Perhaps. As they like to say around here - the devil IS in the details.

Hi BHelmet, actually seeing that this is your second post on the forum, we would appreciate it if you would post a brief intro about yourself in the Newbies section, telling us how you found this forum, how long you've been reading it and/or the SOTT page, whether or not you've read any of Laura's books yet, etc.
