Something is happening! New swarm of earthquakes move along Japan's subduction zone

A swarm of earthquakes move along the subduction zone, from Mount Fuji to the Kii Channel and Tokara Island, Japan from Saturday 04 to 08 December 2021.

Four days, almost more than 200 earthquakes and the ground continues to shake. That's been life lately for the residents of the Tokara Islands, a small chain found within Kagoshima Prefecture. But officials and experts say the tremors are not necessarily cause for alarm.

The Meteorological Agency said it does not know exactly what is causing the swarm of mostly small earthquakes in Japan, but added that they can continue for about a week.

YouTuber 'TheEarthMaster' presents a pretty good and measured overview, I think, of this most recent swarm off the West coast in the context of the Cascadia subduction zone, what's also occurring in and around Japan, plate tectonics in general, and other dot-connecting.

I just listened to it, but I didn't hear him mention anything about Japan and what is happening there. It was interesting never the less and I would be extra alert if I was living on the West coast of the US. That cluster of medium sized earthquakes in such a short time span signals something is afoot. What exactly is the big question.

You're right about the Japan bit. No discussion about it. His zooming out at about 3:30 and 9:20 to show the Pacific Ocean and refer to the volcanic activity to keep an eye open for around the Ring of Fire, as he points to the islands of Japan - loomed large in my thinking of the over-all picture.
