I'm been thinking lately about publishing two books instead of one.

This first book would consist of the 25 first chapters of which 22 already have been published in this thread. It would include this first four parts.

The title would be something like: "Comet, Virus and Evolutionary Leaps"

As it is, the first book would be approximately 300 pages.

The second book would consist of the last 20 or so chapters. It would include the last three parts.

The title might something like "Virus and Proteins, Antennas to the Information Field"

What do you all think?

Well, your 1st book is 350+ pages and your 2nd book is 284 pages. By the sounds of it, if you were to wait and publish in one volume, it might be around 600-700 pages, with a timeline of est. another 8-12 months? The way things are, you could get the info out to the general public quicker in two volumes. I'd say, if the 'one' is almost ready to go and you feel it's 'solid', in the words of Ben Bradlee from the movie 'All the President's Men': "Print that, baby."

I have a question; why not print it all in one? Is is a final book price issue or 700 pages book issue?

Concerning your last book, it was around 370 pages, but 70 of them is Bibliography; then the rest of this 300 pages there is probably around 100 pages of pictures.
That leaves the book ok 200 pages with footnotes.
Right?
So in case of your new book, this 700 pages doesn’t sound that big.
I mean, I would be happy to read your research on 1700 pages… 😅

I just want to piont out that in this case and with this subject it only sound big, but your books are very interesting and filled with pictures and references and so on, so I don’t think you should worry if it turns out to be a 700 pages book.

But if you are worried about final price of the book and think that it would be easier for people to spend 20-30€ per book in a few months period and not 50-60€ at once, then yeah, split it up.

In any case - go ahead and print it! ☺️

It's mostly a matter of delay. The third book "Comet, Virus and Evolutionary Leaps", the first 22 chapters published in this thread + 3 extra chapters, is almost ready. The fourth book will take months to be completed.
I thought the bolded part was the reason of your previous post. In my humble opinion, I would say print what is ready, and go for a second book. We don't know how long we have before things in the world become so problematic that one can no longer print a book, or even sell it, and therefore allow readers to buy it.

And if time allows you to print and sell both, so much the better! I often tend to say that what's done is done and does not need to be done anymore, and I'd rather have at least the first book than no book at all!

But it is only my humble opinion, and maybe others would have other answers.

On a side note, I spent part of the afternoon reading the chapters I had not yet read, and I am now on chapter 15. I had a great time doing so, so thanks again for your tremendous work!
 
I agree that printing it in two volumes is better. Time to readers is one consideration. Another is that two 300-page volumes is much less intimidating to an average reader than one 700-page volume :)

Only you can know, however I'm inclined to say that delays for the last book impact the first book by waiting, and what you have done is ready for wide readership. So, agree with others, go for it now. You well deserve to have your work out there.

If you learn something new about the subjects you have covered, you can present additional information in a preface or an appendix to the next volume, or weave it into the chapters of the book.

Maybe, like the above mentioned quote suggests, the birth of the three of greatest minds of the renaissance was due to sheer luck, or maybe the integration of the viral sequence of the Black Death virus, in the genome of the survivors and their progeny enable a new way of thinking?

Genes, the Black Death and the Renaissance

What if the real cause of the Renaissance was indeed the Black Death, not so much through the destruction it induced but rather the genetic mutations in the human genome induced by the virus?

Besides DNA changes as a result of viruses, the suffering caused by the changes in society and experienced among the survivors, like Boccaccio and Petrarch, may turn on DNA receptors too.

On the Black Death, the rule of three, and the Renaissance
While the Black Death may have influenced how the Renaissance gained traction and unfolded, I am not sure, it caused it. As we have seen, some ideas and people who seeded the Italian Renaissance were born before the Black Death. But if there seems to be many processes at work, does the law of three apply?

If I use the law of three on the appearance of the book of Decameron which is a series of stories that take place within the framework of the raging plague in Florence, then I could venture that the social conditions of a creative group of rich and noble young people in Florence (thesis) faced with the destruction of the Black Death ravaging their town (antithesis) led them to leave town and entertain and nourish each other in their country house secluded and removed from the Black Death mayhem (synthesis). I am not sure the Decameron would have seen the light of day without the Black Death. Or one could say that the Decameron exists as an artistic synthesis on the backdrop of the conflict between the remembered good life of the past and the observed suffering by himself and his contemporaries. On the subject of fertility and the Black Death
In the German book Die Vernichtung der Weisen Frauen
(The Destruction of the Wise Women.) By Gunnar Heinsohn and Otto Steiger, Ausburg, 2005 (review) they suggest that one important reason the witches were hunted down was because they had knowledge of contraceptives and abortion.

After the plague many workers had died so the powerful landowners and the church needed people to work their lands, not contraceptives and abortion, which allowed for the average people to lead lives and raise children according to their means. This in practical terms meant that they would generate less offspring than fertility provided possibilities - not a popular solution among those who needed labours.
According to the above book, after the Black Death, medicine became increasingly more institutionalized and regulated by the authorities.

The influence on genes from the Black Death virus may not have been a one way street
The following excerpts occur in relation to Coronavirus, RNA vaccinations, and the expected space virus. In the transcripts, it is mentioned that the vaccine has docking elements, and that the virus from space has 4D STS influences. When I read this, I wondered if 4D STS have also influenced previous events like the Black Death. Without trying to answer the question, here are the excepts:

The good and the bad, genetic upgrades from viruses and parasites
In the latest session, it is said that while the coronavirus can provide upgrade, parasites are at work at times of major changes, probably to counter any beneficial effects.

A: In some respects. But remember what was said about parasites at times of major change and remain vigilant and proactive.

Agree with that.

And it would be easier for the translators (and for people waiting for the translation) to translate 2 books instead of a huge one.

If meteorites can indicate signs of life, one possibility could be the Orgueil meteorite from Southern France
Below are photos and documents relating to the Orgueil meteorite. To summarize the content of the post, I begin with a photo found in a video taken of the meteorites in a museum in Montauban. Then I quote the Wiki and cite the controversy relating to research by Richard B. Hoover, who claims that the meteorite shows signs of microfossils. Hoover, who was employed by NASA, has published research on the topic dating back to the 1990ies and including two recent documents from 2020 and 2021. At the end, there is a map of the place where the meteorite fell in 1864, as well as directions to the museum in Montauban, which is not mentioned in the list of museums all over the world, that conserve fragments of the meteorite.

If the video information is real, the museum should have a few small meteorite fragments from different locations, mostly South America and mostly from the last half of the 19th century. Two reviewers in the TripAdvisor do not mention the meteorites, but stuffed animals and bird skeletons!

Orgueil is a scientifically important carbonaceous chondrite meteorite that fell in southwestern France in 1864.

History
The Orgueil meteorite fell on May 14, 1864, a few minutes after 20:00 local time, near Orgueil in southern France. About 20 stones fell over an area of 5-10 square kilometres. A specimen of the meteorite was analyzed that same year by François Stanislaus Clöez, professor of chemistry at the Musée d'Histoire Naturelle, who focused on the organic matter found in this meteorite. He wrote that it contained carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, and its composition was very similar to peat from the Somme valley or to the lignite of Ringkohl near Kassel. An intense scientific discussion ensued, continuing into the 1870s, as to whether the organic matter might have a biological origin.[2]

Curation and Distribution
Orgueil specimens are in curation by bodies around the world. Given the large mass, samples are in circulation for nondestructive[3] (and with sufficient justification, destructive[4][5][6]) study and test.

Composition and classification[edit]
Orgueil is one of five known meteorites belonging to the CI chondrite group (see meteorites classification), and is the largest (14 kilograms (31 lb)).
This group has a composition that is essentially identical to that of the sun, excluding gaseous elements like hydrogen and helium. Notably though, the Orgueil meteor is highly enriched in (volatile) mercury - undetectable in the solar photosphere, and this is a major driver of the "mercury paradox" that mercury abundances in meteors do not follow its volatile nature and isotopic ratios based expected behaviour in the solar nebula.[9][10]

Because of its extraordinarily primitive composition and relatively large mass, Orgueil is one of the most-studied meteorites. One notable discovery in Orgueil was a high concentration of isotopically anomalous xenon called "xenon-HL". The carrier of this gas is extremely fine-grained diamond dust that is older than the Solar System itself, known as presolar grains.

In 1962, Nagy et al. announced the discovery of 'organised elements' embedded in the Orgueil meteorite that were purportedly biological structures of extraterrestrial origin. These elements were subsequently shown to be either pollen (including that of ragwort) and fungal spores (Fitch & Anders, 1963) that had contaminated the sample, or crystals of the mineral olivine.

Richard B. Hoover of NASA has claimed that the Orgueil meteorite contains fossils, some of which are similar to known terrestrial species.[12] Hoover has previously claimed the existence of fossils in the Murchison meteorite. NASA has formally distanced itself from Hoover's claims and his lack of expert peer-reviews.[13]

Hoover[23] a retired NASA scientist, with claims of evidence in meteorites that life on Earth could have come from space, in this case debris carrying life from a comet to Earth. The journal dismissed the criticism as "a barrage of slanderous attacks" from "crackpots and charlatans", calling their own journal courageous for resisting the "terrorists" whose actions they equated with the Inquisition.[24][25] NASA distanced itself from Hoover's findings,[26] and issued a statement saying that the paper had been previously submitted in 2007 to International Journal of Astrobiology which did not accept it for review.[27] A number of commentaries on the paper were also published.[25]

In an open letter to the editors of Science and Nature, Rudolph Schild proposed to establish a commission to investigate the validity of the Hoover paper, which would be led by three experts appointed by Journal of Cosmology, Science and Nature.[28] Schild said he would interpret "any refusal to cooperate, no matter what the excuse" from Nature or Science as "vindication for the Journal of Cosmology and the Hoover paper, and an acknowledgment that the editorial policies of the Journal of Cosmology are beyond reproach".[28] They subsequently issued another statement in which they stood by their publication process and suggested that criticisms were "slander and histrionic tirades", and comparing their critics to "lunatics... unleashed to throw filth", suggesting that their own actions were part of a 2000-year struggle of science against religion. Since their critics had "refused to cooperate" in a review, they reaffirmed the study to be "beyond reproach".[29]

Apart from the article in the Journal of Cosmology, there are other papers by the same author:
Richard B. Hoover, Microfossils of Cyanobacteria in Carbonaceous Meteorites, has 85 mentions of the Orgueil meteorite. NASA may have distanced themselves from the research of R. B. Hoover, as claimed in the Wiki according to the Wiki, but not more than I could find a paper still stored on their site. The ID for the document, https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/20070038326/downloads/20070038326.pdf, suggests it is from 2007. (Attached).

Surprisingly, the site of Институт геохимии и аналитической химии имени В. И. Вернадского РАН (Russian Wiki of V. I. Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry RAS) in Moscow, hosts a Sample manuscript showing specifications and style by Richard B. Hoover with the title Microfossils in Carbonaceous Meteorites. It is short, but has, in just two pages, eight mentions of Orgueil, along with a biography of the author. The paper is from 2020 and the ID indicates it was uploaded in October 2021, see http://www.geokhi.ru/Lists/Calendar..._Vernadsky_HOOVER_Abstract_BIO_10_19_2021.pdf

In the bibliography of the above short entry, there was [6] Rozanov, A. Yu., Hoover, R. B. et al. The Orgueil Meteorite (Atlas of Microfossils). 2020. P. 1-130. ISBN 978-5-903825-42-4 (attached) The book was printed in Russia in just 500 copies, and contains 40 plates. With current sanction policies, one may be able to obtain a paper copy.

If I compare the images from Montauban and the two from Paris, there is a fair bit of variation in the colouring, but that might be due to lightning.

If meteorites can indicate signs of life, one possibility could be the Orgueil meteorite from Southern France
Thanks for sharing. The Orgueil meteorite and few others are addressed in the next chapter titled "Life in cometary material". This chapter should published soon in this thread because it's almost done, finally!

Mercury is a very rare element on planet Earth. Its bulk abundance is estimated by Mc Donough et al to 3-8 ppb (parts per billion). However, in meteorites mercury concentration is much higher, albeit variable, with concentrations ranging from ca. 10 ppb to 14,000 ppb.

The record 14,000 ppb concentration was found in the Orgueil meteorite, a 14 kg (30 pounds) carbonaceous chondrite meteorite which fell in southern France in 1864.

According to Gounelle et al, the Orgueil meteorite has a cometary origin, which is also the case for some other carbonaceous chondrite meteorites, as suggested by Haack et al.

Abstract— Using visual observations that were reported 140 years ago in the Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences de Paris, we have determined the atmospheric trajectory and the orbit of the Orgueil meteorite, which fell May 14, 1864, near Montauban, France. Despite the intrinsic uncertainty of visual observations, we were able to calculate a reasonably precise atmospheric trajectory and a moderately precise orbit for the Orgueil meteoroid. The atmosphere entry point was ˜70 km high and the meteoroid terminal point was ˜20 km high. The calculated luminous path was ˜150 km with an entry angle of 20°. These characteristics are broadly similar to that of other meteorites for which the trajectory is known. Five out of six orbital parameters for the Orgueil orbit are well constrained. In particular, the perihelion lies inside the Earth's orbit (q ˜0.87 AU), as is expected for an Earth-crossing meteorite, and the orbital plane is close to the ecliptic (i ˜0°). The aphelion distance (Q) depends critically on the pre-atmospheric velocity. From the calculated atmospheric path and the fireball duration, which was reported by seven witnesses, we have estimated the pre-atmospheric velocity to be larger than 17.8 km/sec, which corresponds to an aphelion distance Q larger than 5.2 AU, the semi-major axis of Jupiter orbit. These results suggest that Orgueil has an orbit similar to that of Jupiter-family comets (JFCs), although an Halley-type comet cannot be excluded. This is at odds with other meteorites that have an asteroidal origin, but it is compatible with 140 years of data-gathering that has established the very special nature of Orgueil compared to other meteorites. A cometary origin of the Orgueil meteorite does not contradict cosmochemistry data on CI1 chondrites. If CI1 chondrites originate from comets, it implies that comets are much more processed than previously thought and should contain secondary minerals. The forthcoming return of cometary samples by the Stardust mission will provide a unique opportunity to corroborate (or contradict) our hypothesis.

Abstract–The goal of this paper is to summarize 150 yr of history of a very special meteorite. The Orgueil meteorite fell near Montauban in southwestern France on May 14,1864. The bolide, which was the size of the full Moon, was seen across Western France, and almost immediately made the news in local and Parisian newspapers. Within a few weeks of the fall, a great diversity of analyses were performed under the authority of Gabriel Auguste Daubrée, geology professor at the Paris Museum, and published in the Comptes Rendus de l’Acaddémie des Sciences. The skilled scientists reported the presence of iron sulfides, hydrated silicates, and carbonates in Orgueil. They also characterized ammonium salts which are now gone, and observed sulfates being remobilized at the surface of the stone. They identified the high water and carbon contents, and noted similarities with the Alais meteorite, which had fallen in 1806, 300 km away. While Daubrée and his colleagues noted the similarity of the Orgueil organic matter with some terrestrial humus, they were cautiousnot to make a direct link with living organisms. One century later, Nagy and Claus wereless prudent and announced the discovery of “organized” elements in some samples of Orgueil. Their observations were quickly discredited by Edward Anders and others who also discovered that some pollen grains were intentionally placed into the rock back in the 1860s. Orgueil is now one of the most studied meteorites, indeed one of the most studiedrocks of any kind. Not only does it contain a large diversity of carbon-rich compounds, which help address the question of organo-synthesis in the early solar system but itschemical composition is also close to that of the Sun’s photosphere and serves as a cosmic reference. Secondary minerals, which make up 99% of the volume of Orgueil, were probably formed during hydrothermal alteration on the parent-body within the first few million years of the solar system; their study is essential to our understanding of fluid–rockinteraction in asteroids and comets. Finally, the Orgueil meteorite probably originated froma volatile-rich “cometary” outer solar system body as indicated by its orbit. Because it bears strong similarities to other carbonaceous chondrites that originated on dark asteroids, this cometary connection supports the idea of a continuum between dark asteroids and comets.
