Or set-up a website with your works on it and/or sell your t-shirts, that will help you get noticed without being ripped-off.
i've already done that.
i'll probably get my sister to set up an ebay shop and try to sell them that way. (she's somewhat of an ebay wiz)

one unused design i have lying around is a great anti-war/anti-US variation of the american flag that would sell really well, but it's so easy to rip off that the only way you could make some money off it, is by rolling it out with a large distributor before too many copy-cats catch on.

unfortunately i have no talent for 'doing business' - the whole process disgusts me.
;)

true, you cannot patent an idea. you would have to set up a registered company and then patent a logo that can make your ideas unique by association. I can see why you say business disgusts you but it is just the current method of spreading information. Currently people PAY to advertise other peoples messages so why not take advantage and give it a go?

Better late then never:

I study philosophy and cognitive neuroscience, 2nd year. When I signed up I thought I was about to find the answer to all the questions about the mind but
It seems my teachers are stuck in the physical:

Our starting point is to take consciousness as a natural biological phenomenon in the brain, and our main aim is to carry out both empirical and theoretical explorations into the nature of consciousness.

PhD thesis: "On the Nature of Consciousness: Theoretical and Empirical Explorations" (1995)

And I work part time at a Psychiatric hospital, one thing I find sad is that the current model of
psychiatric-care almost only rely on drugs, so many pills and liquids, you can really see the "zombiefication" at work, almost like human shells.

Grim indeed. ^_^

Hi All, and to those that made it to this part of the thread "right On".

I am currently a 3rd year engineering major at one of those compete-for-funding-universities.

Most of the classes are pretty dry and the corruption of the mindset of the academia world is pretty dicernable. I m pretty sure I m going to succumb to the system and be eventually kicked out, I believe I would fail because "waking up" and standing up to the pressure of the system would drown me or make me a different person. BUT I also believe "waking up" at this time was a path chosen somehow by me. I realize one or both reasons is the way I m excusing the other reason. As time passes I wil have to face where I made my chosen path and come to terms with it.

Thanks to listening to my blable.

Jesus recommended to be in this world but not of it. You don't have to fail classes or "stand up" where there is little or no usefulness to do so, and only ends up in harm to yourself for no good reason. I think Jesus just meant that it is wise to play along with the system and not shoot yourself in the foot just because you recognize the absurdity of it - again, when it's not useful or necessary to do so. The C's recommended something very complementary to that Jesus quote - to be wise as serpents but gentle as doves. Act strategically, conserve your energy, and look up "Impeccability" in the cassiopaea glossary. Focus your energy towards acts that have the greatest chance to be useful and productive, and that means considering the context and faking it and holding your tongue at some times, and speaking the truth at other times - when it is asked for and does not endanger you or others for no good reason. Think of it like a non-violent resistance movement during Nazi Germany. We do not walk into nazi headquarters and say "you're a bunch of psychopathic scum" - this only hurts you, benefits no one, and potentially hurts the whole movement. But we do need to be part of the system at least in appearance, we do need money, a roof over our heads, etc - to continue to survive and to continue to be effective in accomplishing our true goal. Just some thoughts to consider.

Yeah...Its hard to be a part of Corporate America and not of it. I love what I do for work, the research end of it....but I would not want to be higher in the organization than I am. My hubby and I agreed long ago that we did not want the compromises that go along with making a lot of money. My health ended any notion of that in my bosses for me, but my husband does get more pressure to move up the corporate ladder. Sometimes they use me to pressure him: "Wouldn't you like to make more so she doesn't have to work so hard anymore?" Phooey! It's having meaningful work that keeps me on an even keel. :)

We both share outside interests in different arts...he's into woodworking and pottery. I'm into writing, photography, and sewing. (And a slew of others, more interests than energy...) Both of us work to keep a good separation between work and home, the drive to and from helps.

I work as a web designer at the local city council. I hate it. Working with politicians stinks, feel like I'm selling my soul to the devil, but can't seem to find anything =(
I'm also writing/translating/interviewing/drawing for a metal magazine. Plus, I'm taking bass guitar lessons.

I think that's it :D

product development for a web hosting and internet services co, previously some development work for a mobile phone service provider (at times it is fun to work with lots of technological gadgetry, but overall the corporate environment is rather depressing), financial analyst…thinking about going back to school

I work as an illustrator and animator for small animation company, which creates cartoons and multimedia cd-roms for educational industry mostly, but which slowly enters entertainment market.
My work consists of creating cutout animation (or mix of cutout and traditional animation) and preparing backgrounds for cartoons in Flash.

Also, I did study architecture, and have spent six years trying to get a degree in an area which was mostly incompatible with my talents - without succes.

Do you know any effective treatment for Hepatitis B and Liver cirrhosis, perhaps something that might not be popularized or currently supported by the mainstream medical community for some reason? If so, could you suggest anything?
You might try research on Milk thistle for liver cirrhosis.
My dad was treated with traditional herbal medicine using a weed plant that grew close to water. The plant is small and when I was kid I joined my mom and a relative to gather these plants. Plenty of this weed can be found in my old neighbourhood in Indonesian city. I don't remember how it was prepared.

Same as me till 2003, I had same feeling, couldn’t stand it any more so I quit.

rraven said "organic farmer, shiatzu practitioner,ex belly dancer ." I am also an amateur gardener, actually a balcony gardener where I grow flowers, (tulip bulbs, other kinds of bulbs also, some vegetables (organic baby spinach) herbs, african violets, hyacinth, passiflora, etc. ) Lots of pots on the balcony, hardly any place to walk but I love it. I will grow purple basil from seeds and the seeds from my tomato plants are waiting to be sown. My mother's summer home has a small garden and I planted a pomegranade tree last year, grew tomatoes, herbs, flowers, lavender, melissa and even made some compost. The caretaker would spray for mosquitoes but I forbid him to enter my garden because of the chemical he uses. Actually eucalyptus oil is very good for mosquitoes. I only use organic animal fertilizer. The grew passiflora from seeds and took some there and it flowers so much there then it had fruits and I took some seeds from that, too.
How come you are a belly dancer? Did you take lessons ? I do some belly dancing but very amateur stuff. I love to dance too, actually I had wanted to be a ballerina when I was about six and watched a film by Charlie Chaplin (anyway that's a long story).

It's hard to say. Hell, one year, in my early 20's I think I had 8 jobs..

For the last 6 years I have ran my own business - a small ma and pa computer store. I'm not very software oriented but love technology, hardware wise. I guess that makes me part accountant, shipping and recieving, inventory analyst and broak as all get out :O! I'd almost trade it for a job with benefits - can always use a doctor and a dentist but I can't work for someone, always some(one)thing comes up to test my integrity.

I love it. It can be ultra slow or mega busy. The freedom to read and study is the best benefit. I'm pretty lazy so the commute to work is great, but going home (up 13 stairs) is one of the few downsides :). I can't express how lucky I feel. I don't have money but the events that led up to this point are just amazing! Most of my money issues are self induced, I like to try and help people and solve problems more than the pay.
